Dirty Money

Plot
In a gritty, crime-ridden city, two detectives, Myung-deuk and Dong-hyeok, are facing their own personal struggles. Myung-deuk's daughter suffers from a serious illness that has drained their meager finances, forcing them to live a precarious existence. To make ends meet, Myung-deuk resorts to taking bribes from local gangs, who also happen to be his supposed targets. On the other hand, Dong-hyeok is desperate to pay off the mounting debts he incurred from his own reckless gambling habit. Given their dire circumstances, the two detectives have a symbiotic relationship, often relying on each other for both physical protection and emotional support. However, their mutual understanding is rooted in a system of favors and concessions, which ultimately blurs the lines between friendship and exploitation. Myung-deuk uses Dong-hyeok's willingness to help him settle his debts as leverage to get him to participate in questionable activities. The duo's chance to make a fortune arrives when they overhear a vital piece of information – a Chinese gang is preparing to transport a substantial sum of cash out of the country. Recognizing the enormous potential reward of stealing the cash for themselves, Myung-deuk and Dong-hyeok devise a bold plan to intercept and steal the shipment. Their hope is that the proceeds will provide them with a financial windfall sufficient to alleviate their respective personal burdens. As a former detective, Myung-deuk utilizes his knowledge of the city's underground network to orchestrate the heist. Meanwhile, Dong-hyeok uses his skills as an officer to obtain classified information and prepare for any eventuality. The elaborate setup pays off, and they succeed in stealing the shipment. However, in their haste to escape, they inadvertently leave a cryptic clue that alerts the police. The situation spirals rapidly out of control as Myung-deuk and Dong-hyeok are now being pursued by both the authorities and the Chinese gang. Desperate and on the run, they use every trick in the book to shake off their pursuers, but their actions only lead to further violence and chaos on the streets. As the stakes escalate, the detectives' relationships begin to fray under the strain. Myung-deuk starts to lose his grip on reality due to his growing sense of urgency to save his ailing daughter. Dong-hyeok, on the other hand, becomes increasingly entangled in the web of deceit as he finds himself trapped in a cycle of dependence on Myung-deuk. Their once mutually beneficial partnership has turned into a toxic one, with each man holding the other hostage through fear, intimidation, and obligation. Their actions have now become a self-destructive feedback loop, as they hurtle toward a calamitous confrontation with their adversaries. Myung-deuk's desperate bid for a solution leads him to propose a reckless plan to split the loot with the Chinese gang, thereby appeasing both parties. Dong-hyeok, however, refuses to participate in this suicidal endeavor, recognizing that it would only lead to their demise. As the two men disagree on the best course of action, their differences lead to a tragic confrontation that will change their lives forever. The pursuit of 'easy' money has led Myung-deuk and Dong-hyeok down a destructive path, eroding the very foundation of their relationship and ultimately leading to a devastating outcome. Despite the chaos and mayhem that erupts around them, their ultimate fate serves as a poignant reminder that true redemption can only arise from confronting the darkness within oneself, rather than attempting to escape it through deceitful means.
