Plot

Doug Carlin, a determined and principled New Orleans-based ATF agent, is on the scene of a devastating ferry explosion that claims the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians. The explosion, caused by a large quantity of explosives planted on the ferry, has left the city in shock, and the authorities scrambling to piece together the events leading up to the catastrophe. Amidst the chaos and destruction, Carlin's instincts take over, and he springs into action, scouring the area to recover any evidence that could lead to the perpetrators. As he navigates the smoldering wreckage, Carlin comes across a mysterious and cryptic message from an unknown sender, requesting him to visit a specific location. Intrigued and curious, Carlin makes his way to the designated meeting spot, only to find himself in an unmarked, nondescript warehouse. It is there that he is intercepted by a group of shadowy operatives, who subsequently whisk him away to a top-secret government laboratory. Deep within the lab, Carlin discovers a revolutionary time-shifting surveillance device capable of predicting and preventing crimes. Dubbed "Dolphin," the high-tech gadget allows agents to relive the final hour leading up to a deadly event, allowing them to pinpoint the precise moment the crime would occur. What initially seems like science fiction quickly becomes a viable tool in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and Carlin finds himself at the receiving end of the device's advanced capabilities. As part of an experiment, Carlin is taken on a mission to change the course of a future event by visiting and influencing the past. This time manipulation, facilitated by Dolphin, enables Carlin to essentially alter his own destiny. He becomes trapped in a temporal loop, witnessing the same hour repeatedly, as he strives to discern what lies ahead. Trapped in this fragile state, Carlin embarks on an intricate and thrilling cat-and-mouse game, with time running rapidly out. Blinded by events that surround him, Carlin becomes increasingly obsessed with a personal mission – preventing a targeted attack by a pair of terrorists. Given his complicated emotions for a local woman named Claire Kuchever, the complex fate intertwined within their relationship adds more depth to Carlin’s increasingly despondent experiences. Through a series of blurred and jumbled memories, Carlin struggles to make sense of the constant loop, increasingly growing frayed under its immense pressures. Witnessing each event's repetition imbues Carlin with an inescapable feeling that he can change the future, specifically something involving Claire's disappearance a few days past. As the blurred timelines confound him, a dark and increasingly somber world gradually gathers around Carlin, both past and present. As events gather a momentum all their own, Carlin’s chance of changing the course of his life revolves around winning back the love that slipped right out of his grasp. Chasing down time, Doug Carlin joins a high-stakes journey into the complex web of fragmented events that will attempt to take his last stand against the relentless and cold calculations of fate. With the crushing weight of time against him, Doug Carlin becomes the embodiment of a struggle with paradoxical alternatives and a quest for individual intervention, pushing him further and further into the face of an overwhelming reality that defies common reason and defies time itself. At stake lies nothing more than a memory he has just begun to rediscover – his heartfelt bond with Claire.
