Plot
In the midst of the vibrant and opulent era of Queen Victoria's England, a man of remarkable talents and unwavering empathy resides in the secluded Dolittle Manor. His name is Dr. John Dolittle, a renowned veterinarian and physician with an extraordinary gift – the ability to converse with animals. Seven years have passed since his beloved wife's untimely demise, leaving Dolittle a shattered and emotionally numb individual. In a desperate attempt to cope with his grief, he isolated himself within the walls of Dolittle Manor, surrounded by an assortment of exotic creatures that he has rescued from various corners of the world. These animals, each with its unique personality and quirks, become the sole source of companionship and comfort for Dolittle. They form a diverse menagerie, comprising everything from a clever and resourceful monkey named Rassouli, to a majestic and gentle tiger named, among others. As the years go by, Dolittle dedicates himself to studying the art of healing and exploring the uncharted boundaries of his extraordinary connection with the animal kingdom. However, fate has other plans for Dolittle, and his peaceful existence is dramatically disrupted when Queen Victoria, whose reign has been marked by numerous triumphs and accomplishments, falls gravely ill. The ailing monarch, determined to find a cure for her affliction, sets her royal seal of approval on a mission to locate the legendary Golden Arrow plant, said to possess extraordinary healing properties. This rare plant, hidden on a mythical island, has long been believed to be the only hope for restoring the Queen's health. As Dolittle is summoned to Buckingham Palace, he is met with mixed emotions – on one hand, he is duty-bound as a member of the medical establishment to assist the Queen; on the other, the daunting prospect of stepping out of his comfort zone and re-engaging with the world outside Dolittle Manor fills him with apprehension. However, with a subtle nudge from his trusted servant, Crozier, Dolittle relents and sets off on a perilous journey across the globe to find the Golden Arrow plant. Upon his embarkation, Dolittle sets sail on a majestic ship, crewed by a motley bunch of seasoned sailors, each with their own distinct character. As they navigate the unforgiving high seas, the group is confronted with a multitude of challenges, ranging from the harsh elements to the sinister intentions of rival expeditions. Upon arrival on the fabled island, Dolittle embarks on a thrilling adventure, as he encounters a myriad of wondrous creatures inhabiting this enchanted realm. With his innate gift, he forms a rapport with these creatures – the cunning, yet noble, creatures of the forest. By understanding their language and learning from their ancient customs, Dolittle gradually overcomes his trepidations, rediscovering the wit, courage, and resilience that defined his younger self. However, this journey comes complete with the added complexity of Dolittle's interactions with some of his former acquaintances who are now formidable adversaries seeking to claim the power of the mysterious Golden Arrow plant for themselves. These formidable foes, with ulterior motives, threaten the delicate balance of nature and imperil not just the future of the island but also that of the entire world. The path ahead is fraught with numerous trials, obstacles, and perils but, as Dolittle progresses through this transformative journey, he rediscovers the significance of friendship, perseverance, and the unbreakable bond between humans and the creatures they've been entrusted to care for. With the animals by his side, Dolittle's unwavering compassion guides him through each treacherous terrain as he forges a triumphant path towards the fabled Golden Arrow. Ultimately, this odyssey proves to be a resounding testament not only to Dolittle's resourcefulness but also to the enduring power of hope and the strength of the human spirit. As Dolittle returns to England with the Golden Arrow plant, his newfound courage and conviction inspire all those who witness his incredible journey. In the process, he rekindles the warmth and love he once had – finding a new lease of life, a reason to smile, and ultimately, discovering a new purpose. With a renewed appreciation for the interconnectedness of life, Dolittle's story unfolds into a testament to the resilience of love and friendship, forever sealing his place in the annals of history as one of the most remarkable individuals of his time.

To be honest, Downey's accent isn't great, and some lines are mumbled. Peter Capaldi would have been a better fit for this role. However, Xin and Banderas, as villains, were remarkably outstanding despite the protagonist's extensive screen time, showcasing their undeniable talent. Overall, the script follows a simple children's movie structure; it's all about fun, so don't go looking for depth.

All the popcorn in the world tastes the same, and sadly, even the flavor from Iron Man's kitchen can't change that.

So the climax is a collaborative colonoscopy on a dragon?! I'm too beautiful to watch this...

Personally, I think Johnny Depp would have been better suited to this role – a character who is outwardly melancholic, inwardly soft, occasionally manic, and a little neurotic.
