Dracula Untold
Plot
In the midst of medieval turmoil, Prince Vlad III Dracula (Luke Evans) must confront his own demons as he transforms into the legendary bloodsucking creature known as Dracula. The film "Dracula Untold" takes creative liberties with the original Bram Stoker novel, reimagining the iconic vampire's origin story. As war looms between the Ottoman Empire and the kingdom of Transylvania, Vlad Tepes is faced with an impossible decision: to sacrifice his family or risk everything to protect them. The Sultan demands that Vlad deliver 1,000 boys to serve in his army, a demand that would tear his family apart. Desperate to find a solution, Vlad seeks guidance from the enigmatic and mysterious Mehmed (Dominic Cooper), who introduces him to the dark arts. As Vlad delves deeper into the world of black magic, he begins to tap into an ancient power that slowly consumes him. He becomes more aggressive, cunning, and calculating, much to the concern of his loyal wife, Mirena (Sarah Gadon). Meanwhile, the Ottoman Empire's most feared warrior, the Sultan's son, Mehmed, is hell-bent on conquering Transylvania. As Vlad's transformation accelerates, he finds himself torn between his love for his family and his thirst for power. His struggle culminates in a series of epic battles against the Ottoman army, with Vlad facing off against Mehmed in an intense duel. As the stakes rise, Vlad is forced to confront the true nature of his new existence and the horrors that come with it. The film's action-packed narrative is woven together by stunning visuals, impressive fight choreography, and a haunting score. The performances by the cast are solid, with Luke Evans delivering a standout performance as the complex and conflicted Dracula. Ultimately, "Dracula Untold" offers a fresh take on the classic tale, exploring themes of power, loyalty, and sacrifice in the face of overwhelming odds.

Vlad, played by Luke Evans, might be known for other…ahem…*adult* film genres, but damn, does he sell the tragic hero act in this! Seriously, for someone who might be more familiar with…a different kind of on-screen action, he's surprisingly convincing as your tortured, blood-thirsty prince. Highly recommend!

A medieval Batman with a dash of male Maleficent. A mere three days of superpowers, and he spends it all clearing out the fodder. Why didn't he just take out the villainous Iron Man's father the moment he stepped out of Tywin Lannister's shadow? Vlad, where's your brain at?
