Elyas

Elyas

Plot

Elyas takes on a simple task at first, assigned to watch over Amina and her 13-year-old daughter Nour as they navigate their new surroundings in what appears to be a peaceful holiday season. The atmosphere surrounding Amina, however, seems to be clouded with an inexplicable layer of fear and apprehension. Her reluctance to discuss the details surrounding their visit is met with a stern sense of urgency, suggesting that there is more to their visit than initially meets the eye. A former member of the Special Forces, Elyas was once accustomed to living in a state of high alert. But the events that transpired in Afghanistan left him with emotional wounds – the memories still lingering in his mind like an open wound. His time as a soldier was marked with the constant need to adapt and respond, where his life depended on the choices he made. Since returning from his deployment, however, his life was vastly different. Gone were the days when his adrenaline levels skyrocketed with each passing situation. In its place now stood a fragile sense of paranoia that now governed every aspect of his daily life. His decision to accept this job stems from two fundamental reasons. One factor is his desire to prove to himself that he is capable of performing under pressure again. For so long now, his skills have been collecting dust, and he fears that their disuse will make him obsolete in a world where the stakes are higher than ever. The second is the promise of a sizeable paycheck, one that would allow him to start anew, free from the debts and the burden of past traumas. Upon arrival at their home, Elyas takes to his role with calculated intensity. He carefully assesses the layout of the house, identifying each area that requires particular attention. Amina, despite her initial reluctance, seems to appreciate Elyas' dedication to his duties, but the lines of communication between them are tenuous, at best. She is cautious in her interactions with him, never revealing anything beyond the surface level, and Elyas' attempts to build a rapport with Nour are met with a stubborn refusal to open up. It becomes increasingly clear that Amina is hiding something from Elyas, and the reasons behind her silence only become more pronounced as he digs deeper into her past. Elyas starts experiencing a series of unsettling occurrences while watching over her. These events range from seemingly innocuous items being misplaced in the most unlikely places to mysterious voices whispering from the walls in the dead of night. Despite these unsettling events, Elyas is drawn deeper into the mystery, convinced that uncovering Amina's secrets holds the key to unlocking a deeper truth. His search for answers, however, is fraught with the risk of revealing Amina's dark past, one that Elyas is not prepared to face. As the stakes escalate with each passing day, Elyas becomes ever more entrenched in his mission to uncover the secrets surrounding Amina. It is only when a life hangs in the balance that he finally comes face-to-face with the truth. Elyas is compelled to make the decision of his life – one that will determine whether he will continue down the path of survival by whatever means necessary, or if he can rediscover the compassion and empathy that once defined him as a person.
