Encino Man

In the quirky and offbeat world of 1990s suburban Los Angeles, a typical day for high school misfits David "Dave" Boyle (Brendan Fraser) and Stoney Brown (Matthew 'Stoney' Dillon) is marked by nothing but monotony and routine. Their lives are filled with navigating the trials and tribulations of adolescence, dealing with their own identities, and, of course, trying to fit in with their peers. Their lives, however, are turned upside down when they stumble upon a rather peculiar discovery in their backyard. While digging up the dirt, they inadvertently unearth the remains of a supposedly long-frozen primeval man. At first, they are met with skepticism, even ridicule, from their schoolmates, particularly the school's resident brainiac, Link's love interest, the straight-A student, Robyn Sweeney (Julie Bowen). The boys are even more bewildered when they discover that the mysterious creature is, in fact, alive. Dubbed Link (also Brendan Fraser), the primeval man is bewildered by his new surroundings and the strange customs of his modern-day counterparts. He is fascinated by the simplest of things, such as a glass of water and a shower, which to us, may seem mundane, but to Link, they are life-changing experiences. He starts by giving Link a makeover, transforming the primitive caveman into an acceptable member of society.
