End of the Road

Brenda (played by Queen Latifah), a devoted mother and wife, is still reeling from the tragic loss of her husband. The pain of his passing is evident in the way she now navigates life with her children, Jesse and Eric, who are struggling to cope with their own grief. Despite the challenges they're facing, Brenda is determined to hold things together for her family and keep their lives as normal as possible. As they set out on a road trip from Atlanta to Illinois, the atmosphere is bittersweet. Brenda is attempting to bring some much-needed joy and adventure to her children's lives, but the tension between them is palpable. The family's dynamics are further complicated by Brenda's overprotectiveness, which stems from her recent loss and lingering fears. Their journey is disrupted when they encounter a group of young adults, including a charming but troubled youth named Jesse Jr. (played by Fin Cole) who joins their family for a short period. He seems to bring some much-needed levity to their journey but, unbeknownst to them, has some skeletons in his closet. Their serenity is short-lived as they're suddenly thrown into chaos. Brenda's husband's brother, who was also known to be involved in some dubious business dealings, is found murdered in the motel where they spent the night. When they learn about the crime scene and see photos of the deceased on the news, they're shocked to see him, and their initial shock turns into panic as they realize they have a missing bag of cash in their car. Panic sets in as they realize they might be the prime suspects. With no other options, they decide to flee the motel and start driving towards Illinois, unsure what they're getting themselves into. Along the way, they're hotly pursued by multiple groups, each with their own agenda and reason for chasing them. Brenda, who finds herself torn between her maternal instincts and the overwhelming desire to protect her family, is constantly forced to think on her feet. Her children are caught in the middle of her fears and worries. With tensions running high and a massive price on their heads, their family is forced to band together for survival, a desperate and perilous game they must play with the stakes higher than ever. As they continue their harrowing drive, with their sanity and their lives on the line, this unlikely family forms an unbreakable bond.
