Evil Things

Plot
Evil Things is a 2012 found-footage horror film directed by Gerard Campillo. On January 9, 2009, five college students - Samantha, Michael, Rachel, Mike, and Jason - embarked on a weekend retreat to the countryside of New York, seeking a break from their demanding college schedules. The group consisted of friends who had grown up together, and their camaraderie and banter provided the initial excitement of their trip. Their initial excitement gave way to tension and unease as the weekend wore on. Initially, they encountered various obstacles, including a flat tire and a broken-down car. However, they were able to eventually repair their vehicle and continue their journey. As night began to fall, the group arrived at their designated campsite, where they settled in for what they expected to be a relaxing weekend in the woods. The tension and unease they initially felt began to dissipate, and they were all in high spirits for a night of camping and camaraderie. However, their evening festivities were soon disrupted by strange occurrences that suggested something was amiss in the woods. At first, it seemed like the usual forest noises that could be expected during the night - creaking trees, hooting owls, and scurrying small creatures. But as the night wore on, these sounds took on a sinister tone, making the group members increasingly uneasy. The group started questioning each other about what was going on and why they were experiencing these unsettling events. Paranoia began to creep in, and they started to turn on one another, each suspecting that someone was playing a trick on them. This marked a significant turning point in the group's weekend retreat. As the night drew to a close, the group members started to experience more disturbing and inexplicable events. The footage from their campsite became increasingly shaky, and the audio quality deteriorated, making it difficult to distinguish what was happening. It was as though the group's equipment was trying to capture something, but was struggling to do so. As tensions mounted, the friends realized they were in grave danger. The strange noises in the woods had transformed into a series of inexplicable events, making it increasingly difficult for the group to comprehend the situation. One of the group members disappeared, and their companions realized that something was terribly wrong. The friends tried to get back to their campsite, but every road they took led to a dead end or a roadblock of some kind. Panic began to set in, and the once close-knit group had now descended into chaos. Each member suspected the others of playing a trick on them or even being involved in the sinister events unfolding around them. Their frantic efforts to escape from the mysterious events only led to more panic, more suspicion, and ultimately, to the disappearance of the final three group members. In a shocking twist, the friends' cameras captured their own disappearances, hinting that the true horrors may lie not in the woods but in the actions of their own group. In the aftermath of the group's vanishing, their footage was used as evidence to piece together what happened during that fateful weekend. The recovered footage revealed a terrifying sequence of events that left behind an unanswered question: what drove these five close friends to such desperation, and what horrors lay in the darkness that had ultimately consumed them?
