Executive Decision

Plot
Executive Decision is an action-packed thriller film directed by Stuart Baird and released in 1996. The movie stars Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry, and John Leguizamo in pivotal roles. As the film opens, a 747 passenger plane, flying from Tel Aviv to Washington D.C., is taken over by a group of heavily armed Middle Eastern terrorists, led by the ruthless Ilan Grigori (David Suchet). The terrorists, who are disguised as Israeli immigrants, hijack the plane and demand its release in exchange for the lives of its passengers. They are led by their imprisoned leader, the charismatic and intelligent Colonel Abu El Ghazi (David Suchet). The FBI is initially unaware of the true motives of the terrorists and believes that they are genuine. Meanwhile, the intelligence expert David Grant (Kurt Russell), a tough, no-nonsense, and experienced operative, is assigned to investigate the hijacking. A close friend of one of the passengers on board the plane, Grant's instincts tell him that something is amiss. He begins to suspect that the hijackers' primary target is not Washington D.C. but rather an airborne target elsewhere in the United States. Grant's suspicions are shared by a seasoned Navy SEAL, William Denton (Steven Seagal), who was an instructor at a special forces training center. However, their warnings go unheeded by their superiors until they discover that the plane's intended destination will result in a significant loss of American lives. Convinced that they are dealing with a much more sinister plot than initially thought, Grant and Denton persuade their authorities to let them board the plane. However, the hijackers soon become aware of Grant and Denton's involvement and plan to eliminate them before they can stop the impending attack. The FBI, with the authorization from President of the United States, allows a team of special operatives, led by Air Force Colonel Austin Travis (Halle Berry), to storm the plane. But they soon realize that this is no ordinary hijacking: a group of commandos with state-of-the-art technology and advanced communications have taken control of the aircraft. In an unexpected twist, Grant and his team find out that the terrorists' true intention is to detonate a neutron bomb on board the plane over an American aircraft carrier, resulting in massive loss of life and devastating destruction. With time running out, Grant, Denton, and the team must improvise and devise a plan to rescue the hostages and prevent the catastrophic attack. As the hijackers become increasingly desperate, Grant's leadership and determination become crucial in coordinating a daring rescue mission that will either save the lives of thousands of Americans or succumb to the will of the terrorists. As the tension reaches its climax, Grant faces the reality that the situation might go beyond his capabilities to manage. With his team and a small window of opportunity, Grant devises a plan to board the plane by way of an inflatable ramp on the side of the plane's cargo bay doors. The plan involves infiltrating the hijackers and using stealth and cunning to sabotage the neutron bomb before it's too late. If the team succeeds, they will be hailed as heroes; if they fail, they will leave behind a trail of devastation.
