F9

Plot

F9, the ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, picks up where the previous film left off. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) has finally found a sense of peace and acceptance, having saved his family and brought Tej's brother, Owen, to justice. Dominic and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) have managed to put their past behind them, and a potential future together seems within reach. However, their newfound tranquility is short-lived. The patriarch of the Toretto family, Jakob (John Cena), surfaces from the ashes of his unfaithfulness. Jakob's actions drove a deep wedge between him and Dominic, and his betrayal nearly cost Dominic his freedom and his family. As Dominic and his crew gear up for a new venture, they cross paths with Jakob, who has a past that hasn't caught up to him yet. It starts with a simple heist, but their plan quickly goes awry when they're ambushed by Jakob. Dominic soon realizes that Jakob is an assassin and high-performance driver, leaving him shaken. The film takes a poignant turn as it flashes back to the brothers' troubled past. The history between Dominic and Jakob is intricate, and their bond was formed due to a complicated and often painful relationship between their parents. It's revealed that Jakob, once a skilled driver and inventor, became a master assassin for the Orso Korojenov organization after being driven by personal tragedy. Jakob's troubled past and deep-seated anger have shaped him into the person he is today, making him a force to be reckoned with on the road. With a penchant for causing chaos, Jakob knocks over multiple trucks before hijacking them with one single blast of his device, and setting out an alarm for Dominic and his crew. The tables are turned as the family is hunted by the elusive Jakob. The early scenes are filled with frantic pursuits, with Jakob using every trick in the book to evade capture. Tej (Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Michelle (Nathalie Emmanuel) and others must band together with Dominic to bring an end to the relentless chase. Their skills are put to the test as Jakob reveals a few hidden tricks up his sleeve. Tej engineers a plan to steal the part needed for one car to drive next to him in order to steal it back, and Roman uses all of his tactical skills, for a break through. However, despite their efforts, Dominic becomes increasingly obsessed with taking down Jakob. The film's tension builds up as Dominic puts his family and crew in harm's way in pursuit of vengeance. In his final stand, he learns to come to terms with his hatred towards Jakob, as well as to accept the painful complexities of their sibling bond. In the climactic final act, Dominic and Jakob face off in an adrenaline-fueled showdown at the film's centerpiece - a high-stakes street racing scene in Rome. The Toretto/Tobias rivalry comes to a head. Ultimately, it all comes down to a tragic and a meaningful brotherly love shared between Dominic and Jakob.
