Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Plot
In the vibrant and magical city of New York, 1926 is a year of great change and transformation. The world is shifting, and with it, the balance of power between the magical and non-magical communities. It's amidst this backdrop that we are introduced to Newt Scamander, a British wizard and magizoologist, who has come to the city with a peculiar and extraordinary gift - his magically expanded briefcase. Newt's briefcase is no ordinary container. It's a marvel of magical engineering, capable of holding a multitude of creatures from diverse habitats and environments. Each of these creatures, known as magical beasts or simply "fantastic beasts," is a unique and wondrous being, some of which have adapted to live in the human world, while others exist in the non-magical realm. As a magizoologist, Newt has dedicated his life to studying and preserving these elusive creatures, learning about their behaviors, habitats, and biology. Upon his arrival in New York, Newt is immediately drawn into the world of American wizards, where he soon finds himself embroiled in a series of adventures and misadventures. Newt's first encounter is with the No-Maj (the American term for non-magical people) Mary Lou Barebone, a sharp-tongued and fiercely anti-magical activist who sees wizards as a threat to her community. Despite her animosity towards wizards, Mary Lou's adopted children, adopted from an orphanage years before, are more open-minded to the magical world and become fascinated with the briefcase and its wonders. However, not everyone shares Newt's enthusiasm for the magical creatures. Jacob Kowalski, a No-Maj with a strong sense of curiosity, becomes infatuated with the briefcase and Newt's "rescued" creature in it, an adorable, but supposedly tame, Niffler. As Jacob develops an unlikely friendship with Newt, his fascination with the magical world puts him at odds with the American wizarding authorities, led by the strict and uptight, Percival Graves. Graves, as it turns out, is not only obsessed with rooting out magical threats to the No-Maj community but also with maintaining the uneasy truce between the magical and non-magical worlds. His methods, however, are misguided and ultimately only exacerbate the tensions between the two communities. With a sinister hidden agenda and an increasingly suspect demeanor, Graves' motivation and true intentions remain shrouded in mystery. As Newt struggles to restore order and recapture his missing creatures, he becomes entangled in a world of American wizards who seek to undo the careful balance that has been maintained between magic and No-Maj. These wizards, led by Graves, propose "international cooperation" with Europe, in practice threatening the rights of the American wizards. Tensions escalate as Newt's magical creatures go on the loose, putting both magical and non-magical lives at risk, while many see it as a golden opportunity to eliminate the entire wizarding community. Meanwhile, in the shadows, clues hint at Gellert Grindelwald's sinister plans to spark a new era of magical dominance, further deteriorating the fragile relations between wizards and No-Maj. This mastermind seeks to ignite global chaos, thus sparking the rise of totalitarian powers seeking the magical elite for itself. Through the chaos, relationships and allegiances are forged and broken as the narrative hurtles towards its climax. Ultimately, it is a testament to Newt's compassion and empathetic understanding of these wondrous creatures that binds the American wizarding and No-Maj communities together, offering a glimmer of hope for the future.
