Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Plot

In the follow-up to the 2005 film "Fantastic Four," "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" picks up on the story of Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, Reed Richards, and Ben Grimm, the Fantastic Four, as they navigate their personal and professional lives while continuing to protect the Earth from various forms of catastrophe. After the catastrophic event that occurred at the end of the first film, the world is still reeling from the aftermath. However, with the Fantastic Four's efforts, they have managed to restore order, albeit fragile, and are continually on the lookout for new threats. In the opening scene of the film, a massive earthquake ravages San Francisco, leading the Fantastic Four, as well as the authorities, to suspect that another cosmic disaster is brewing. Their concerns are soon vindicated when they detect and then briefly encounter a glow emanating from a nearby lighthouse. Their investigation leads them to discover that the sole survivor of the lighthouse is a humanoid figure cloaked in a silver light. Believing that he is an ally, the four approach him with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. It is revealed that this mysterious figure is the herald of the Planet Devourer, Galactus, known as Gal's intergalactic envoy - the Silver Surfer. Throughout the film, the Fantastic Four are initially naive and complacent about the true nature and intentions of the Silver Surfer. However, the audience quickly grasps the distinct revelation that Norrin Radd, as the Silver Surfer, is under obligation and tyranny, bound to traverse and announce Galactus. Furthermore, with Galactus setting his sights on Earth to satisfy his insatiable hunger for planets, the Fantastic Four have no choice but to confront the enemy that has long pursued them across space and time. They come to realize that the entity traveling towards Earth isn't Galactus but his previous herald, the enigmatic Silver Surfer with his own independent ambitions - who's looking to rejoin and destroy the universe devourer.
