From Dusk Till Dawn

Plot

The film From Dusk Till Dawn is a 1996 crime horror-directorial debut by Robert Rodriguez. It stars Harvey Keitel and George Clooney as the Gecko brothers, and Salma Hayek as the captivating and mysterious Santanico Pandemonium. The movie begins with Seth Gecko, a charismatic but cunning bank robber, and his psychotic younger brother, Richard, kidnapping a wealthy father, Jacob Fullers, and his two children, Kate and Scott. The Geckos ambush and hijack the family's luxury RV just outside a Texas border town, using the father's money to fuel their lawless getaway. However, Richard, fearing that their ruse has been compromised after inadvertently exposing their identities to eyewitnesses in the bank robbery, convinces Seth to divert course to Mexico, using an old motel-liquor store address to send a signal to their Mexican accomplices. The store's proprietor, Big Bob, has a contact in Taco Grande, a notorious and seedy bar operating just beyond the town of Noon. Taco Grande, from what we know, also happens to have a very deadly clientele that remains in shadows. Backed by Richard, Seth presses on to fetch the Mexican contact with Bob, but as they finally arrive at Taco Grande just past dusk, the atmosphere rapidly darkens. On arriving in this haunted bar, Seth continues to feel hopeful that they can rest and plan their futures. Nevertheless, a palpable air of foreboding settles in when they, along with Jacob's two kids, watch men becoming bizarrely infected on camera. An already creepy mood, perpetuated by their desperate surroundings, elevates hostility tensions. Meanwhile, Seth and Richard frantically devise methods to hold onto the father's money and continue their nefarious getaway plans, without realizing that their violent abduction of a father plus youngsters has not been the only instance of human depravity witnessed that night. Seemingly innocuous, friendly patrons of the roadside Taco Grande prove to be the very epitome of bloodthirsty, power-driven monstrosities in disguise. The eerie ambiance inside can be sensed immediately as patrons and their associates start succumbing to some unexplained condition and eventually becoming undead, monstrous vampires on the run to mercilessly consume men and women alike. Initially perplexed, visitors inside the Taco Grande club gradually realize the reason behind their guests' violent, demonic uprisings. Drained, desperate, weak, and no longer having control, patrons grow into monstrous, almost zombie-like, creatures of living hell. This chaotic turn of events leaves both the audience and the Geckos with no choice but to acknowledge their impending doom and the realization that a small seedy nightspot near a desolate Mexican town has turned into a blood-thirsty killing field. Seth's dark-eyed vision of the future as seen in the bar reveals the fates his fellow travelers and he will one day meet. The thrilling final confrontation begins with Richard attempting to break through out the front door, then discovering with horror at the scene unfolding. Hundreds of swarming bodies, among them innocuous victims of a bar tender in complete captivity of the vampire hordes at Taco Grande, fiercely demand their dark fates. The movie unravels into quite blood-driven chaos, taking these characters into an ominous, hopeless eternity filled with desperate panic, with vampire attacks swirling both in and out. Desperate and hopelessly trapped, in hope of possibly surviving, the hero's chance of making an escape finally dawns.
