Plot
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties is a 2007 animated comedy film, directed by Tim Hill and produced by John Davis, John Fox, and Ron Bozman. The movie serves as the sequel to the 2004 film Garfield: The Movie. Jon Arbuckle, a struggling cartoonist working from home, is excited to be traveling to the United Kingdom with his pet cat, Garfield. Jon has won a free trip to England and is looking forward to a relaxing vacation with the love of his life, Liz Wilson. Meanwhile, a lookalike of Garfield, a cat named Duchess's offspring, Lord Winston Bottomley-Shelby III, escapes from a castle in the countryside and finds Garfield instead of the real monarch. Due to a case of mistaken identity, the British aristocracy mistakenly believe the American cat to be Winston, the rightful heir to the Bottomley-Shelby title. Upon his arrival, Jon is astonished when he learns that Garfield has been mistaken for a noble cat and has become fast friends with Lady Margaret, the kind-hearted daughter of the deceased Lord Dignimus Bottomley-Shelby. Garfield enjoys his new life at the castle, feasting on lavish meals and receiving the finest luxuries available. The two cats quickly become inseparable, with Lady Margaret showering Garfield with affection and attention. However, not everyone is pleased with Garfield's newfound status. Lord Dargis, a ruthless and cunning businessman, has been eyeing the Bottomley-Shelby estate, intent on acquiring its vast wealth and resources for himself. Dargis becomes aware of Garfield's mistake and sees an opportunity to exploit the situation to his advantage. He begins conspiring against Garfield, plotting to expose the truth and gain control of the castle and its assets. Meanwhile, back in the United States, Liz becomes concerned about Jon's prolonged absence and sets out to locate him in England. Upon learning about the mix-up in the British aristocracy, she decides to follow Jon to the UK. Jon's attempts to explain the situation to Liz only confuse the matter, causing tension between the two. As Lord Dargis's schemes unfold, Garfield finds himself in an increasingly precarious situation. His royal duties, though enjoyable at first, become a source of stress and worry, particularly when Dargis's true intentions are revealed. Garfield begins to question his place in the kingdom and fears for his own safety. In a climactic twist, Lady Margaret's family loyalty is tested as Dargis exploits their trust, threatening to ruin their good reputation. To counteract Dargis's evil plans, Garfield musters up his courage to confront the cunning businessman and protect his new friends. In a heartwarming display of loyalty and companionship, Jon and Liz come to the rescue, helping Garfield overcome his royal duties and reclaim his rightful place alongside Jon in the United States. The film is an entertaining and action-packed continuation of the Garfield franchise. Tim Hill brings out the wit and charm of the lovable feline, Garfield, as he navigates the complexities of British life and society. The movie balances humor and excitement, creating a delightful experience that caters to both fans of the original Garfield as well as new audiences exploring the world of cartoons and animation. Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties provides a memorable story of friendship, loyalty, and the unwavering bond between Garfield and Jon, cementing their place as one of the most beloved duos in the world of animation.
