In a world where the supernatural has become a reality, a group of eccentric individuals must put aside their personal differences and face their deepest fears in order to save the city of New York from a malevolent force that threatens to destroy everything in its path. The movie Ghostbusters, directed by Ivan Reitman, is a classic 1984 comedy-horror that tells the story of four women who, in their own unique ways, have dedicated their lives to understanding and fighting the paranormal. Erin Gilbert, played by Kristen Wiig, is a former academic who, along with her friend Abby Yates, compiled a book about the supernatural. However, Erin has since tried to distance herself from her paranormal past, deeming it an embarrassment and a misuse of her academic credentials. Abby Yates, played by Melissa McCarthy, is also a self-proclaimed ghost enthusiast and has taken Erin's research to a more extreme level. Abby has a passion for the supernatural that far outweighs Erin's, but despite their differences, the two friends have remained close. Abby runs a ghost-hunting ghost-staring (using a device that allows for multi-masking) business called Ghostbusters with the help of engineer and her partner, Erin Gilbert. Jillian Holtzmann, the group's eccentric engineer, played by Kate McKinnon, is an academic genius who is obsessed with technology and gadgets. Her obsession often leads to an assortment of zany inventions and gadgets that Erin is quick to dismiss as impractical. Despite this, Jillian's quirky nature and love for innovation prove to be invaluable assets to the team in their battle against the paranormal. Lastly, there's Patty Tolan, played by Leslie Jones, the group's skilled street-smart Native New Yorker. Patty, armed with nothing but her Brooklyn attitude, gun arsenal and an eager willingness to take down any ghost that comes her way becomes a key face of the group, providing comedic value as well as insight as to who these paranormal warriors are in her point of view and where the streets begin and where the slimes do. The story takes a drastic turn when Erin receives a call from a local museum alleging paranormal activity. At first, Erin is apprehensive, but it soon becomes clear that this is not just any ordinary event. It appears that a supernatural entity has been unleashed upon the city, and Erin is eventually reunited with Abby in the aftermath. Together, Erin, Abby, and their team jump at the opportunity to prove that they can stop the supernatural threat from the very thing they once thought was so hypothetical and even silly and truly make a legitimate stand for saving the city of Manhattan from destruction. In an unexpected twist, it is revealed that a character named Rowan North is behind the unleashing of the malicious spirits who are part of an interdimensional world known as "The Library". Rowan's malevolent entity (Zuul) is attracted to the physical manifestation of evil and is in search for an appropriately selfless act of a being possessed by another similarly evil entity that resides within a human being. As Zuul wreaks havoc across the city, the team must put aside their differences and channel their unique skills to take on the supernatural threat head-on. Armed with an assortment of ghost-catching equipment, from proton packs to ectoplasmic tests, the team must also face their deep-seated fears and insecurities in order to pull off this seemingly impossible quest. The climactic battle takes them to the world's most iconic skyscraper, the iconic World Trade Center, which serves as the haunting backdrop to their fight against the malevolent spirits. With over 300 creatures attacking the already panicked skyscraper, and the odds ever more hopeless with time running out the last face off challenge the people have to unite against this supernatural disaster of enormous grand scale which seems truly incapable of stopping. Only after realizing their true purpose in life where bravery proves essential above all else do they gain the understanding of all their experiences in a series of flashbacks eventually in their real time battle make the breakthrough – rowan has taken over on bill murray's partner, and the entity that was part to be the second ghost taking over his home. It is up to Erin, Abby, and the rest of the team to use all of their combined skills and ingenuity to save their fellow Ghostbuster from destruction. In a heart-stopping climax, the team must use all of their combined knowledge and gadgetry to stop the malevolent entity and defeat Rowan. Tearfully but triumphantly they manage to save their brother by realizing and identifying the location of the entities last appearance by destroying the last remaining entity destroying it and saving Manhattan, securing a legendary place for the people in the mind of the audience which many remember till this day.
