Plot
Girls und Panzer der Film is a 2015 Japanese animated film directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, produced by Actas in association with Aqours, and based on the 2012 television series of the same name. The story takes place immediately after the events of the series, in which the members of the Ooarai Girls Academy High School Tankery Team, also known as the 'Ooarai Girls Academy tankery team, had successfully saved their school from being dismantled. However, their joy is short-lived, as they soon learn that the Ministry of Education, which had initially agreed to support the academy, has gone back on its promise. According to the Ministry, due to the economic downturn and reduced student enrollment, the school will be closed, and the massive Academy Ship, which is a five-mile-long, century-old, decommissioned battleship, will be dismantled and sold to scrap. Determined to prevent the destruction of the ship and the school, the newly-minted High School Tankery Team, led by their captain, Miho Nishizumi, sets out to rally the support of the entire town of Ooarai, the local government, and the media to save the Academy Ship. Along the way, they face a series of challenges and obstacles, including bureaucratic red tape, financial constraints, and stiff competition from neighboring towns. As the team works tirelessly to promote their cause, they also have to deal with their own personal struggles and conflicts. Miho, in particular, is struggling to balance her duties as the team captain with her own feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. Meanwhile, her teammates, who had become close friends during the tankery tournament, are also dealing with their own issues, from romantic relationships to family problems. Despite these challenges, the team perseveres, using their skills, creativity, and teamwork to come up with innovative ways to raise funds and public awareness about their cause. They organize charity events, hold bake sales, and even create a series of catchy promotional videos and slogans to spread their message. At the same time, the team also has to face off against a rival school, the Chihayafuru School, which is also trying to save its school. The two schools engage in a series of competitions and challenges, including a friendly tankery tournament, to see which school can raise the most funds and support. As the story unfolds, the stakes become higher and higher, with the fate of the Academy Ship and the entire town of Ooarai hanging in the balance. The team's efforts are also met with increasing resistance and skepticism from the local government and the media, who question the feasibility of saving the ship and the school. In the end, the team's perseverance and determination pay off, as they successfully raise the funds and support needed to save the Academy Ship. The film ends on a uplifting note, with the team celebrating their victory and the school's future looking brighter than ever. Throughout the film, the animation and music are excellent, bringing to life the characters, settings, and action sequences in a dynamic and engaging way. The tankery tournament sequences are particularly thrilling, with the team's tanks and tactics coming to life in a way that's both realistic and exciting to watch. Overall, Girls und Panzer der Film is a heartwarming and inspiring film that celebrates the power of teamwork, perseverance, and determination. It's a must-see for fans of the series and anyone who's ever felt passionate about a cause they believe in.
