Hit Man

Plot

David Kessler, a professor of criminology at a local university, leads a rather mundane life. However, unbeknownst to his colleagues and friends, David harbors a secret. By night, he transforms into "Stilman," a fictional hitman, and takes part in police stings aimed at capturing real-life contract killers. This peculiar arrangement serves as a peculiar form of research for David, a man deeply fascinated by the darker corners of human behavior and criminology. One fateful evening, David is introduced to Jack, a young mobster who seeks Stilman's services to eliminate a perceived threat. David, initially preoccupied with the specifics of the hit, finds himself increasingly drawn to Jack's charismatic and fascinating nature. Jack, too, seems captivated by David, and their conversations gradually drift away from the task at hand. As David finds himself falling for Jack, he begins to seriously question his role in the sting operation. A mild yet genuine fascination gradually takes over, threatening to disrupt his carefully constructed facade as Stilman. David fears that his growing attachment may jeopardize the entire operation, and his dual identities become increasingly entwined in an unsettling dance. Meanwhile, Jack, sensing David's emotional vulnerability, decides to up the stakes by introducing him to his more unsavory colleagues. The once-orderly world of David's police stings becomes increasingly volatile as Jack edges him into the shadows of organized crime. Jack's escalating demands test the boundaries of David's dual identities, pushing him to confront the darker realities of his nocturnal persona as Stilman. An escalating web of manipulation sees David caught between his responsibility to the police and the growing romance he feels for Jack. Pursued by both law enforcement and Jack's suspicious associates, David is forced to navigate the blurred lines between his lives. His obsession with the human condition propels him to live this surreal scenario to the fullest, which becomes increasingly difficult as his sense of self becomes imperiled. The line between his fake life as Stilman and actual life as a criminology professor disintegrates, and the subtle dissimilarities between his characters gradually start to merge. Stilman, until now an idealized persona, now represents the darkness that David has secretly harbored all along. A cataclysmic series of events slowly separates David from his academic and social lives. The result - David's increasingly precarious relationship with reality becomes undeniable. In desperation, David tries to rationalize his heart's intentions by attempting to establish where his true moral identity lies; as Stilman, he has managed to achieve something impossible as David - to connect with the criminals, to pierce their secretive walls, and understand them. However, it's through this process that David finds himself having grown close to people whose world and principles are worlds apart from his. With David trapped in a web of dual identities, Jack's affections take him to the boundary between commitment and reckless abandon. Caught between the choices he cannot disavow and the ones that could seriously put him at risk, David begins his irreversible tumble down the precipice of his established persona. "Stilman" and David blur, leading David to find out the truth behind his character and his fascination with it - something much more realistic and practical. As David navigates his chaotic duality, it becomes clear that he must decide which persona he identifies with - the more refined professor of criminology or the stoic hitman known as Stilman - before he gets irretrievably caught in his complex web of false lives and chaotic love.
