Home Alone: The Holiday Heist

Plot
Finn Baxter, a 10-year-old California native, has just received some disconcerting news from his family – they are relocating to the infamous town of Christmas Cove, Maine. As the date for the move draws near, Finn becomes increasingly anxious about leaving behind the sunny climate of his birthplace and immersing himself in the icy cold of the East Coast. As the Baxters set foot in Christmas Cove, Finn's anxiety turns to outright terror. The Baxter's new home appears to be an old, eerie mansion with twisted tree branches and a crooked, snow-covered roofline, a far cry from the modern California mansion they previously inhabited. Convinced that his new house is haunted by a malevolent spirit, Finn decides to take matters into his own hands and sets up a series of elaborate traps to catch the "ghost" in the act. Finn's plan involves laying out tripwires, fake spider webs, and even creating a booby trap-laden hall of mirrors in the hopes of capturing evidence of the paranormal activity. However, it soon becomes clear that Finn's new house may not be haunted after all. Left home alone with his sister Mia for the day while their parents are stranded across town, Finn unwittingly stumbles into a much more real and perilous threat. Enter the infamous burglar duo, Marv and Gus, infamous for their daring robberies of homes all over the city. Unbeknownst to Finn, Marv and Gus have targeted the Baxter house, with no idea that the home's young occupant is a resourceful and trap-prone 10-year-old. Finn quickly takes advantage of his situation and begins to utilize his elaborate traps to deter the burglars. With each misadventure, Marv and Gus are left bewildered and injured, oblivious to the young mastermind behind the chaos. Meanwhile, Mia has grown increasingly frustrated with her brother's obsession with ghost-hunting and his antics. Tired of being left alone with Finn while their parents are away, Mia takes a proactive approach and decides to help her brother outsmart the intruders. Together, the siblings use their combined creativity and ingenuity to outwit Marv and Gus, setting them up for an epic showdown at the Baxter house. As Finn and Mia continue to improvise their booby traps, they inadvertently create a scene akin to a scene from a Hollywood action film. With buckets of water, swinging paint cans, and an assortment of other homemade contraptions at their disposal, the siblings manage to fend off the bumbling burglars, keeping them in a state of constant confusion and fear. As the night draws to a close, Finn manages to trap Marv and Gus in a rather ingenious trap of his own – with their own brand of self-inflicted chaos and confusion leaving the burglar duo helpless and immobile. With the siblings safely ensconced in their home, Marv and Gus stumble away from the property with nothing but a bruised ego and a plethora of cuts and scrapes. As the dust settles, the Baxter parents finally arrive home to find an idyllic scene of domestic bliss. Finn, still beaming with pride, shares the tale of his adventures, from the fake spider webs to the epic showdown with Marv and Gus. With the burglars apprehended and their home safe, the Baxters breathe a collective sigh of relief, realizing that their new home may not be haunted after all – and that sometimes it takes a clever kid to protect a family. The Baxter family may have found their perfect holiday home in Maine, but it's clear that Finn's new house in Christmas Cove has one last secret to reveal – and it's one that Finn will be all too happy to defend against.
