Hotel Transylvania 2

Hotel Transylvania 2

Plot

Hotel Transylvania 2 takes place several years after the events of the first film. Count Dracula has married Mavis, his lovely human bride, and the couple is expecting a child. The anticipation of welcoming their little one invites Dracula's father, Vlad, a traditionalist who believes in maintaining the vampire lifestyle unchanged. Vlad is determined to show Dracula and his generations that a vampire must follow the ancient customs, even when they seem outdated and restrictive. However, Dracula is keen on giving his child a modern and liberal upbringing, often disregarding the centuries-old traditions that Vlad adheres to. As a result, the tension between the two generations begins to rise. Dracula wants his child to have the freedom to break away from the conventional ways of vampires and create their own path in life, while Vlad insists that the child must conform to the traditional norms. Mavis, caught in the midst of this generational conflict, tries to navigate the line between tradition and modernity. She wants her child to have a happy and fulfilling life, not being held back by the outdated rules and beliefs of their ancestors. However, she also acknowledges the importance of respecting Vlad's wishes and honoring their heritage. Meanwhile, Johnny, the human grandson of Frankenstein and a childhood friend of Count Dracula's son, Dennis, begins to spend more time at Hotel Transylvania. Johnny befriends Dennis and other creatures of the night, including a werewolf named Wolf, a mummy named Murray, and Duck Van Helsing's daughter and granddaughter. Johnny is fascinated by the supernatural world of Hotel Transylvania and the various creatures that inhabit it. As the full moon approaches, Wolf's instincts become stronger, and he undergoes a dramatic transformation into a wolf-like creature. Feeling embarrassed and threatened by his abilities, Wolf's self-acceptance becomes an issue, and he struggles to find his place within the group. Wolf's struggles bring the creatures closer together, sharing their own personal battles with identity and self-acceptance. Dracula's initial intention to have a traditional family bonding time turns into chaos when Vlad arrives unannounced, prompting Dracula to face the reality of balancing between being a traditionalist and a parent who wants to offer his child a new and modern approach to life. When Vlad convinces Dracula to get a DNA test for his unborn child to prove whether the baby is indeed a pure-blooded vampire, the tests reveal the child has turned into a 'little monster,' a human child with supernatural abilities but without fangs. Realizing that their child is human, the couple is torn between their love and tradition. However, this leads to Vlad's next move: kidnapping the child to a secret location to keep vampires with human children confined and isolated in an unnatural setting. The creatures of Hotel Transylvania are torn by the decision as they take sides: some loyal to Vlad, while others believe in the embracing of change and the new reality. As the full moon rises, the creatures band together to rescue Dennis from Vlad's clutches and set off on a wild adventure to save the little monster from Vlad's oppressive policies. The rescue entangles many thrilling battles between Vikings and werewolves, hilarious scenes of confusion and error as Johnny helps his friends in their quest. In the end, they are successful in saving Dennis, and Dracula and Mavis ultimately learn that their son's unconventional nature is something to be cherished, not ignored or suppressed. The journey of discovery that unfolds through the storyline forces the young family to question what truly matters in raising the next generation – building a better understanding of what defines them as vampires.
