How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Plot
It's 10 days that will change the lives of Andie Anderson and Ben Barry forever. Andie, a beautiful journalist, has a wicked plan to write an article about the ten things men do to lose a girlfriend. She approaches her editor, Michael, with the intriguing concept and is given a month to write the article. However, to make her story more believable and relevant to modern men, she decides to turn the experiment into a challenge: she needs to find a guy, get him to fall in love with her, and then intentionally lose him using all the common pitfalls of a typical girlfriend. Meanwhile, Ben Barry is a successful advertising executive who needs to prove himself in his job. In order to land the lucrative DiGiorno Pizza account, he must convince his boss, Mike, that he's capable of attracting and winning over women. Mike offers Ben a deal: he gets to keep his job as a senior copywriter if he can win over a woman in ten days. It doesn't matter if she's beautiful or gorgeous; what matters is that she falls deeply in love with him. Ben crosses paths with Andie, and the two have immediate chemistry. Ben believes he's found the perfect girl, and he promptly approaches her with his plan. Andie, not knowing about Ben's true intentions, agrees to go along with the masquerade. She becomes Ben's girlfriend, but not without a few caveats of her own - she warns him that their relationship is a mere experiment, and she can leave him anytime. As the days tick by, Andie starts to manipulate Ben by behaving differently according to the patterns of average women, which she has studied beforehand. However, Ben soon realizes that there's something different about Andie, something that he can't quite put his finger on. He starts to grow feelings for her, and they both try to outwit each other, caught in a delicate web of love, lies, and manipulation. As they spend more time together, they start to fall for each other despite knowing about each other's secret experiments. Andie tries out every trick in the book, from being overly clingy to not taking care of herself. Ben, on the other hand, tries to make her jealous by pursuing other women, but he ultimately comes to understand that he's falling deeply in love with Andie. Throughout the movie, the lines between reality and manipulation blur as Andie and Ben keep experimenting on each other. They try to convince themselves that they're not falling for each other, but their actions tell a different story. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and the longer they spend together, the harder it becomes to keep up their charade. The film builds toward a dramatic and heartwarming climax as Andie finally understands that she has genuine feelings for Ben. However, before she confesses her love to him, she needs to end their fake relationship for real. In the end, Andie realizes that she has been playing with fire, pretending to be everything Ben wants in a woman, but not truly being herself. She confesses to him that her article is done, and she doesn't need it anymore because she's learned something way more valuable. Ben and Andie ultimately come clean, and they reveal their true intentions to each other. Andie confesses that she has feelings for him, but that she doesn't know if Ben feels the same way. Ben, realizing that his feelings for Andie are genuine, finally lets his guard down and reveals his secret. He tells Andie that he loves her and would prefer a real relationship over winning the DiGiorno Pizza account. In the end, Andie and Ben confess their love for each other and start a new chapter in their lives - one that is genuine, authentic, and full of love and laughter. The movie ends on a sweet note, as Andie finally gets her happy ending, but this time it's not just about the article; it's about the love she shares with Ben.
