It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Plot
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a 1963 American comedy film Directed by Stanley Kramer. The movie begins with a scene depicting a severe downpour flooding Los Angeles's streets. Amidst the chaos, a car accident occurs, causing a massive crash on the highway. A group of complete strangers, each from different walks of life, rushes to render assistance to the victims. Among them is a man, Milton the crook, who appears dazed and disoriented but otherwise unharmed. As he struggles to stay upright, he utters a few final words before succumbing to his injuries: 'Lafayette, 505 Main at 5.' Milton falls to the ground moments later. The gathering of strangers initially seems like a chance encounter but as they realize that Milton's last words were likely a map, they begin to suspect that they may be the only ones to hear his dying words, which could lead them to a buried treasure. A series of unlikely and absurd events unfolds as the strangers start their frantic search to unearth the hidden loot. There's Smiler Grogan, a gruff old man in his 70s who owns a small diner and lives a humble life with his niece. Smiler has had a long history of bad luck and, desperate to turn his fortunes, becomes obsessed with claiming the treasure. Another key character is the Loxton family - a middle-class household led by a wealthy, eccentric businessman, Major T.J. Preston Sr. who has an obsession for speed and a love for the finer things in life. Major Preston Sr. believes that he can win the treasure by racing against other contestants, making use of the family's advanced speedboat. There's also a beautiful woman, Angie Montenegro, an Italian-American woman with a shady past, who claims that Milton was her former lover. Smiler starts to suspect that Angie might be using her alleged connection to Milton to deceive the group into sharing her potential winnings. One of the more bizarre characters is the eccentric, blind, and lovable old man named Mr. Mordabito. The blind man uses his hearing and intuition to track down clues left behind by Milton. Meanwhile, a group of bumbling thieves, Mickey and Seymour 'Dutchy' Biederbecke, also sets out on their journey, accompanied by their eccentric and talkative sidekick, Caryl Chessman, an imprisoned bank robber who joins the group in his imagination. Throughout the film, these diverse characters embark on an absurd, comedic, and at times surreal journey as they crisscross the State of California. Each character comes up with their own creative strategy to find the buried treasure, involving numerous misadventures, hilarious misunderstandings and wild escapades along the way. From a car chase along the Pacific Coast Highway to a series of mishaps in various motels and tourist attractions, each contestant uses their unique skill set, whether good or evil, to outwit the others in their pursuit of the hidden $350,000. Ultimately the story culminates in a dramatic showdown of all the contestants who converge at the location where Milton buried his loot. As the characters arrive at the designated spot, it is revealed in a surprising twist that Milton actually buried the money for the benefit of the people who heard his final words; he did it so that those who responded to his plea for help at his final moment could claim the treasure as a reward. However, instead of dividing the loot equally, the characters get caught up in a fierce argument and decide to hold a 'drawing.' This final event sets off a chaotic sequence of events that results in the eventual arrival of the authorities to put an end to the contest, leaving no one with the treasure. The film ends with a shot of Smiler, having grown old and wise, and Angie who has become a nun.
