Kesari

Plot
Kesari is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language action drama film directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, and Hiroo Yash Johar, under Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films. The film is based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi, a pivotal event in the Anglo-Afghan Wars that took place on September 12, 1897. The film begins with the introduction of Havildar Ishar Singh (played by Akshay Kumar), a fearless and skilled Sikh warrior who has been serving in the British Indian Army for several years. Singh has been a part of several battles and has earned himself a reputation as a brave and loyal soldier. He is married to Charan Kaur (played by Parineeti Chopra), who is a widow, and he has been taking care of her and her two children. As the story unfolds, Singh is assigned to the Saragarhi Fort, a strategic location in the North-West Frontier Province of British India. The fort is manned by a group of 21 Sikh soldiers, led by Havildar Ishar Singh, who are tasked with maintaining the security of the fort and its surroundings. The area is known for its rugged terrain and harsh climate, making it a challenging place for soldiers to serve. The soldiers are equipped with outdated rifles and minimal ammunition, which is a concern for them, given the threat of an impending attack from the Pashto tribesmen who inhabit the surrounding mountains. Meanwhile, the story also delves into the personal lives of the soldiers stationed at the Saragarhi Fort. Among the soldiers is a young and ambitious sepoy named Gurmukh Singh (played by Vansh Bhardwaj), who is eager to prove himself and become a part of the elite group of soldiers who are trained to serve as the army's top fighters. Another key character in the story is a Sikh soldier named Teja Singh (played by Anurag Singh), who is known for his exceptional fighting skills and bravery. As the days pass, the soldiers at the Saragarhi Fort become increasingly aware of the growing threat from the Pashto tribesmen. The tribesmen, led by General Yadullah Khan (played by Ashutosh Rana), have been mobilizing their forces and are planning to launch a massive attack on the fort. The Sikhs are aware that they are vastly outnumbered and outgunned, but they are determined to fight for their country and their way of life. As the Pashto tribesmen approach the fort, the Sikhs prepare for battle. They know that it will be a suicidal mission, but they are willing to give their lives to protect their country. The Battle of Saragarhi is a clash between the bravery and loyalty of the Sikh soldiers and the ferocity and numbers of the Pashto tribesmen. Despite being severely outnumbered, the Sikhs fight bravely, using their skills and training to hold off the attackers for several hours. The battle is intense and bloody, and the Sikhs are vastly outnumbered. However, they refuse to give up, and they use their knowledge of the terrain to their advantage. They also use their rifles and bayonets to devastating effect, inflicting heavy casualties on the Pashto tribesmen. General Yadullah Khan is a skilled military commander, and he has devised a plan to infiltrate the fort and take out the Sikh soldiers. However, the Sikhs are aware of the plan, and they prepare to defend themselves against the impending attack. In the ensuing battle, the Sikhs inflict heavy casualties on the Pashto tribesmen, but they are increasingly outnumbered. In a final, desperate bid to defend the fort, the Sikhs launch a counterattack against the Pashto tribesmen, but they are vastly outnumbered and outgunned. Despite being greatly outnumbered, the Sikhs continue to fight bravely, and they inflict heavy casualties on the Pashto tribesmen. However, they know that they cannot hold out for much longer, as they are running out of ammunition and their numbers are dwindling rapidly. In a final act of bravery and sacrifice, the Sikh soldiers launch a last-ditch attack on the Pashto tribesmen, using everything at their disposal to fight their way out of the fort. Tragically, the story ends with the deaths of all the Sikh soldiers, who are remembered for their bravery and sacrifice. The Pashto tribesmen are also vastly depleted, and they are forced to retreat from the scene. The battle may have been lost, but the bravery and loyalty of the Sikh soldiers are remembered and celebrated by the Indian army and the nation as a whole. Kesari is a powerful and emotional film that tells the story of the Battle of Saragarhi, one of the most heroic battles in Indian military history. The film is a testament to the bravery and loyalty of the Sikh soldiers who fought and died for their country, and it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our military and our people.
