Plot

Kick (2009), directed by Sajid Nadiadwala and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is a high-octane action drama film starring Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in pivotal roles. The movie is a remake of the Telugu film 'Dookudu' that was directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The story revolves around Shiv (played by Salman Khan), a rebellious and adrenaline-seeking young man who lives life on his own terms. He falls deeply in love with Zia (played by Jacqueline Fernandez), but when she leaves Shiv and their whirlwind romance ends, he decides that he needs to do something drastic to move on from his heartbreak. He turns to his friends, and together, they decide to become thieves. The group consists of four members: Shiv, a genius thief; Deewana Badi (played by Murali Sharma), their leader and mentor; Chikna (played by Vijay Raaz), their tech expert; and Brij (played by Randeep Hooda), their enforcer. As Shiv embarks on his new life as a thief, he starts stealing from wealthy businessmen, but there's a catch – all the targets are linked to a powerful local gangster, RDX (played by Ram Kapoor), who has a stranglehold on the city's underworld. RDX rules the city with an iron fist and has the corrupt police in his pocket. The situation becomes more volatile when RDX decides to eliminate Shiv and his friends. They are being watched by a veteran police officer, DCP De Silva (played by Suneil Shetty), who has a reputation for taking down tough cases. De Silva sees Shiv as a pawn in RDX's larger game and decides to pursue him relentlessly. Throughout the movie, Shiv finds himself at the end of a cat-and-mouse chase, with De Silva trying to stay one step ahead of him. As Shiv navigates his new life as a thief, he starts to realize that the thrill and the rush he experienced in the beginning of his thieving career are soon giving way to boredom and a sense of emptiness. He starts to see the error of his ways and decides to give up his life of crime, but it's not that easy. RDX will stop at nothing to eliminate him, and De Silva has vowed to bring him to justice. The central conflict of the movie arises when Shiv and his friends cross paths with RDX. The group discovers that RDX has a personal vendetta against De Silva, who had killed RDX's brother in a previous encounter. Shiv and De Silva form an uneasy alliance when they discover that RDX is planning to kill De Silva, who has inadvertently stumbled upon RDX's operation. The two of them must put aside their differences and work together if they are to have any hope of defeating RDX and dismantling his crime syndicate. The movie takes a dramatic turn when it becomes apparent that RDX has a mole within the police force. De Silva is unaware of the mole and is being manipulated by RDX, who will stop at nothing to protect his operation. Shiv and De Silva start a turf war with RDX, but what seems like a straight-shooting action flick starts to become a complex exploration of the gray areas between good and evil. As the tension builds, the two protagonists become increasingly entangled in RDX's complex web of deceit. While Shiv and De Silva fight to survive, they discover the dark underbelly of the city's crime syndicate and the corruption that goes unchecked by the authorities. The film builds up to a thrilling showdown between the three main characters, culminating in a violent confrontation that decides the fate of the city. In the end, Shiv emerges victorious, but not without scars, literally and emotionally. He has had to confront the darker aspects of his personality and make amends for his earlier mistakes. He is able to find closure with his past and begins to see a possible future for himself, separate from the world of crime. Kick is an adrenaline-fueled ride that showcases Salman Khan's trademark energetic dance moves and impressive stunts. The film is visually stunning, with vibrant colors and elaborate action sequences. While it's an enjoyable ride for the viewer, the movie raises important questions about the nature of good and evil and the complexities of the human heart.

This isn't just a successful sports movie; it skillfully integrates historical issues and social ideologies into every facet of the story, lending the film a resilience that transcends the typical Hollywood dream. A white coach proactively challenges racial prejudice, successfully ushering American college basketball into an era of Black and white coexistence. This inspirational sports film, with its theme of racial equality, is near perfection. ★★★★
