Kill the Jockey

Plot
Set in the world of Mexican horse racing, "Kill the Jockey" is a gripping tale of redemption, perseverance, and the high stakes of ambition. At its core, the film revolves around the complex lives of three main characters: Remo, a former jockey struggling to overcome his personal demons; Abril, a talented young rider grappling with an unexpected pregnancy and its subsequent consequences; and Sirena, a ruthless businessman with a singular obsession. Remo, once a celebrated and gifted rider, has seen better days. His self-destructive behavior has ravaged his career and his personal life. The scars on his body and the weight of his past mistakes bear testament to his tumultuous existence. Despite this, Remo retains an undeniable passion for racing, which, although dulled by his personal struggles, still burns within him. His tumultuous relationship with Abril, an up-and-coming jockey, has produced an unexpected pregnancy, throwing their futures into disarray. Abril, determined to succeed in this unforgiving world, faces an impossible decision: should she continue to pursue her riding career, or give up her ambitions for the sake of her unborn child? Emotionally invested in both her career and the baby, Abril is torn between her passion for racing and her maternal responsibilities. This internal conflict fuels the narrative's tension, as she navigates the treacherous landscape of professional jockeying and the vulnerability of motherhood. Meanwhile, Sirena, a powerfully enigmatic figure with significant influence in Mexico's horse racing scene, harbors a long-standing grudge against Remo. Having rescued him from a life-threatening injury years ago, Sirena now feels betrayed by Remo's lack of gratitude and debt to him, which Sirena believes was not fully repaid. Single-minded in his pursuit, Sirena is driven by an insatiable desire to reclaim both his honor and his losses. Undaunted by his questionable motives, his tactics unfold with calculated menace, leaving a trail of damaged lives and possessions. Remo and Abril become entangled in Sirena's world when Remo begins competing on the powerful and enigmatic businessman's stables, Sirena's horse riding operations. Both individuals feel uneasy and dominated under Sirena's tight-rope control, aware of the precarious stakes in his world. Remo seems drawn back into Sirena's grasp, propelled by complicated reasons tied to a bitter past experience and also influenced by the increasing health of the infant, whose father is Remo. As tensions escalate, the complex dance between Remo, Abril, and Sirena accelerates into a deadly convergence. Their paths entwine with increasing frequency, mired in confrontations and escalating stakes, which sets the scene for an explosive and thrilling conclusion. Abril must resist mounting pressure and assert her role as an independent horse jockey, but feels drawn inexorably to her deep emotional tie to Remo, at the same time Sirena accelerates the hunt for him, for which the stakes draw perilously near every other human being round Remo.
