Kronk's New Groove

Plot

Kronk's New Groove is a 2005 American animated comedy film directed by Craig Martin and Saul Andrew Blinkoff. The movie is a sequel to the 2000 Disney film The Emperor's New Groove. The story takes place several years after the events of the previous film and follows the life of Yzma's former assistant, Kronk, who has now reinvented himself as a chef and the head delivery boy at the popular Mudka's Meat Hut restaurant. As the day of his father's visit approaches, Kronk becomes increasingly anxious and stressed about the upcoming reunion. He is worried that his father, Paco, will continue to disapprove of his career choices and aspirations. Throughout the movie, flashbacks are shown of Kronk's childhood, where his father frequently embarrassed him in front of other kids by comparing him unfavorably to the local bully. This painful experience left Kronk feeling inadequate and insecure about himself and his interests. Kronk tries to hide his cooking from his father, hoping that he won't discover his true occupation. He instead poses as the delivery boy who brings meals to his father's house every day. However, his attempt at deception is quickly revealed when Pacho mistakes him for the delivery boy and starts ordering meals from Mudka's Meat Hut. Upon discovering that Kronk works at the restaurant, Pacho is appalled and disapproving. He feels that Kronk's culinary ambitions are beneath him and tries to force his son into a traditional masculine role. Pacho's overbearing personality causes tension in the relationship between Kronk and his girlfriend, Yzma (although Yzma is not a romantic partner to Kronk, her appearance does not indicate this in this story). Meanwhile, Pacho tries to arrange a marriage between Kronk and a local woman, much to Kronk's dismay. He realizes that his father only wants him to have a stable family life and traditional wealth, but he wants something more – a sense of fulfillment and happiness through his cooking. As the story progresses, Kronk is forced to confront his own feelings about who he wants to be. With the help of his friends, including the Emperor Kuzco, who becomes an unexpected ally, Kronk starts to express his true passion for cooking. In a climactic confrontation with Pacho, Kronk stands up for himself and shows his father that he will not be held back by someone else's expectations. In the end, Kronk and Pacho have a heart-to-heart conversation where Kronk convinces his father that being a chef is a legitimate and respectable profession. The two finally find common ground and develop a stronger relationship. Kronk's New Groove is a heartwarming and entertaining film that explores themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and understanding. Through its colorful animation and engaging storyline, the movie shows that it's never too late to find one's true calling and pursue their passions.
