According to the stories, Marz had been a seemingly ordinary man, driven mad by his own rage and despair, who had brutally slaughtered his family and then fled into the woods, never to be seen again. Over time, the stories surrounding Marz had grown and twisted, transforming him into a mythical figure with a reputation for unspeakable atrocities and an unholy connection to the woods themselves.
