Plot

Mercury Rising is a 1998 American action-thriller film that delves into the complexities of autism and the cat-and-mouse game between an FBI agent and a cryptic code breaker. As a child of an adopted family, Melvin lives in an orphanage and struggles to make sense of his new environment. Art soon learns that Melvin possesses an uncanny memory that allows him to decode messages too complex for the most skilled cryptologists in the government. His connection to Art gives Melvin a sense of belonging, proving to be of significant emotional value for both. The stakes escalate as Art and Melvin outsmart the FBI's agents and evade capture while on the run.
