In a suburban town, we meet a boy named Sherman, an energetic and curious kid, and his best friend, a dog named Mr. Peabody, who is unlike any ordinary canine. Mr. Peabody possesses a remarkably high level of intelligence, which is almost indistinguishable from that of a human being. They reside with Mrs. Grunion, a friendly and caring foster parent, who allows them to live with her despite their unusual living arrangement. As it turns out, Mr. Peabody's IQ is not just any ordinary high IQ but a genius-level one, which he utilizes to build an incredible time machine. With his genius intellect and Sherman's curiosity, they embark on thrilling adventures through time, exploring pivotal moments in history. Their travels take them to different eras, from the age of the dinosaurs to ancient Egypt and the Wild West. However, their adventures take an unexpected turn when their time machine is stolen by a museum curator named Denison Clay. Clay is driven by a desire to become rich and famous by manipulating the timeline. He takes advantage of Mr. Peabody's invention and begins altering historical events, which sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic consequences. Panicked and determined to set things right, Sherman and Mr. Peabody jump into action. They embark on a thrilling quest to retrieve the stolen time machine and prevent the distortion of history. Along the way, they learn more about the past and its significance, as they visit various time periods to correct the alterations caused by Clay's thievery. One of the early incidents they address is their visit to Ancient Egypt during the reign of pharaoh Ramses II. Clay had attempted to swap the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, with a duplicate of the Great Wall of China, effectively altering the architectural legacy of human civilization. Mr. Peabody and Sherman intervene, ensuring the construction of the genuine pyramid is carried out as originally intended. Their time-traveling exploits also take them to a dinosaur era where they visit a lush land filled with vibrant plant and animal life. Mr. Peabody and Sherman intervene at the last minute to restore the original events of the gunfight, preserving the legend of Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp. As Mr. Peabody and Sherman travel through time, visiting pivotal moments in the history of humanity, their adventures culminate in a confrontation with Denison Clay in his own time era. Clay's actions have caused significant repercussions, threatening the stability of the timeline.
