Now You See Me

Plot

In the sweltering heat of New Orleans, an enigmatic team of magicians, known as the Four Horsemen, is blowing minds with their daring illusions and bewildering tricks. Led by the charismatic and irrepressible Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), the Horsemen, comprising of street magician J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), womanising mentalist Henley (Isla Fisher), and death-defying illusions expert Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), are shaking up the world of magic and mysticism. The Four Horsemen take their illusions to greater heights when, during one of their performances at a downtown New Orleans bank, they seemingly pull off an elaborately staged heist, disappearing with millions of dollars in cash. News of the theft spreads like wildfire, sending shockwaves and sparking curiosity throughout the nation. Equally baffled and amused, FBI Agent Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) begins to dig deeper, but not before making it clear that he is relishing the thrilling mystery, speculating it could make for a fascinating documentary. Simultaneously, Interpol detective Alma Dray (Mélanie Laurent) also becomes entangled in the unfolding saga, having started to investigate in anticipation that the Horsemen might engage in international crimes. In the days that follow the heist, the magnetic leader of the Horsemen, Dylan, gets away with money, a sum he promptly gives out to an audience on live TV, leaving the nation awestruck. Thaddeus, perplexed, unravels the dynamics of the events for a case record, pointing the possibility that they could have accomplices. Yet he refuses the label of possible cop partners; instead, as part of following leads into solving the case, they share findings. From there starts a relationship forming between these people, but one that still has to rely extensively on formal law enforcement protocols. Their most spectacular illusion to date raises curiosity but even deeper puzzlement- they've produced a third team member- Jack Wilder (Louis Letherby), and they take it further and make the impossible possible as a seemingly impenetrable safe in a Chinese vault is unsealed by Jack within seconds under total surveillance by cameras, Interpol and FBI. Alma travels from Paris to New Orleans for further questioning as Dylan initiates the quest with an audience of jousting card pull-out, a spectacular sleight of hand moment played which reveals Dylan's exact identity. Dylan's team swiftly understands very well that since Thaddeus wouldn’t possibly ever lay foot inside of China, Alma's decision to come visit stateside along with some thorough investigations of their China movement could mean huge risks due to exposure of real-life thief information. With every turn the case takes a more baffling and bewildering twist, Thaddeus and Alma begin to suspect a link to an elusive figure that they had previously found themselves in awe of and thought, for sure, was merely for a magic trick to deceive worldwide mass audiences. Dylan ultimately has to reveal what remains perhaps only the unobservable truth from mastermind. Unraveling some very delicate and crafty motives by such method and providing somewhat the information needed, Dylan showcases his mystique the way even its sophisticated art also must allow for many interpretations of the line that splits reality and illusions produced for crowd of fans so the crowd still believe this magician and none doubts until the end. And it becomes suddenly clear, as Dylan, as the final illusions piece, decides the narrative turns a corner – to get the magic back in sync and achieve his ultimate set of goals – by first getting their pasts out of the papers for letting lives drift for some years over – by using an internationally public information act - that Dylan, who earlier performed a beautiful series of light show with a tiny fraction of the bank personnel taken on, was at one time also the long-lost brother who disappeared 10 years prior - when Dylan was still an Ivy League student he lived together with Thaddeus' brother in Paris, exactly within Alma's region that she comes from, only later murdered. What an unsightly coincidence the most masterful magic practitioner of all time would turn out to actually be Thaddeus' long-lost nephew - an incredible revelation. A somber mood took hold of the investigation after Dylan laid out these new perspectives on his purpose. After giving the very central thrust ahead in the art of deception of their brilliant performances by exposing his actual and exact reason to give back in a new form back to humbled and hurt city of New Orleans - (formerly which went from rich back to poor) with his master performance by coming out of nowhere so true in an evening, at first only when revealing people's vulnerabilities it tells a story through illusions to people whose interests are put into motion, but it is possible to build a huge profit without trickery, - now knowing for sure that Thaddeus is Dylan Rhodes's and also long-lost uncle, Dylan's ultimate illusions leaves and nothing is known - but now this changes everything in the unfolding mystery of the case - it even finally all sets that justice at last calls everyone up. "NOW YOU SEE THEM, NOW YOU DON'T!"
