The situation unfolded when a young American journalist, Russell Cass, visited a small town in the Midwest. While traveling through the region, a young monkey, infected with the Ebola-like virus, was imported from Africa by a US scientist, Dr. Casey. The scientist later died of the virus. The monkey was subsequently sold as a pet to a small-time owner in the Midwest. However, when the monkey became ill, it had a deadly encounter with a local veterinarian, who unknowingly picked up the virus while treating the monkey. The veterinarian, with a weakened immune system due to HIV, soon died of the virus. With the virus now in the town, chaos begins to unfold. Panic sets in as townspeople are infected, and the media is quick to spread the news across the country.
