In the animated Disney movie "Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension," Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher are at it again, concocting an elaborate scheme on a sunny day in suburban Danville. The two stepbrothers have grand designs, as they often do, and this time, they're determined to travel to the second dimension. Their creation, a machine capable of traversing dimensions, is deemed a failure, but that doesn't stop Phineas and Ferb from their insatiable curiosity about the unknown. In a separate plotline, Perry, the meddling platypus, a family pet with a secret life, meets Major Monogram, the leader of the O.W.C.A. or "Organization Without a Cool Acronym." Major Monogram assigns Perry a new mission: to stop Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from unleashing a machine that will trap the tri-state area in a perpetual " Dan-Dan-Danville" dimension, which would nullify his own device. Unbeknownst to Major Monogram, Perry's attempts to stop Doofenshmirtz inadvertently collide with Phineas and Ferb's antics. As Doofenshmirtz unleashes his alternate dimension machine, Phineas and Ferb are sucked into the new dimension along with Carl, his nephew. The dimension that Phineas and Ferb find themselves in is eerily similar to their home but unlike their original Danville, with villainous Doofenshmirtz ruling the town. The evil scientist takes advantage of the potential infinite number of opportunities created by having an entire alternate dimension by enacting totalitarian rules, imposing an endless number of regulations, and even altering history. Fibber and his family find it challenging to navigate this bizarre new world and cope with the realization that their town is being ruled by their long-time nemesis, Doofenshmirtz. Stuck in this uninvited alternate dimension, Phineas and Ferb come to notice the overwhelming similarities between Doofenshmirtz's dimension and their own. In an attempt to escape their predicament, they assume leadership and resort to taking measures of their own against Doofenshmirtz's tyranny. Meanwhile, back in the original Danville, Major Monogram remains skeptical, wondering why Perry's usually extensive reports aren't reaching him. It's Perry's agent rival and O.W.C.A. agent Candace is involved with intercepting Perry's data through her advanced technological skills. Major Monogram becomes even more perplexed when he discovers Phineas and Ferb are in trouble. He later manages to get a hold of an in-studio interview they gave while stuck in the second dimension. Back in the alternate Danville, Doofenshmirtz's plans are put in jeopardy as Phineas and Ferb grow more skilled and influential. The former devise a powerful musical combination to create a song that can break Doofenshmirtz's mind control device that put an end to any free will for the townspeople of Danville, making it easier for the boys to reach their home. Each son takes separate paths to triumph, with Candace successfully assisting her brother and his steps in attempting to restore order to their twisted nightmare. With the collaboration and Perry's help, Doofenshmirtz is thwarted and is released yet another terrible invention. Phineas, Ferb, their sister Candace, and their family and friends put an end to Doofenshmirtz's grasp over the alternate dimension and must once again return home. The movie ends with a grand finale musical number where Danville is back to its old self, devoid of Doofenshmirtz's ominous presence. As the film ends, Phineas reflects, grateful for having had such an incredible adventure in a dimension that initially threatened to derail his everyday life.
