In the mystical realm of Kumandra, a world born of ancient magic, humans and dragons lived in a delicate balance of power and mutual respect. For as long as anyone could remember, the two species stood together against the forces of darkness, their bond strengthened by trust and a deep understanding of one another. However, this idyllic existence was shattered by an existential threat that, in a desperate bid to save humanity, the dragons decided to make the ultimate sacrifice. With the dragons gone, the fabric of Kumandra was forever changed, leaving its people fractured and divided. The centuries that followed saw the gradual disintegration of the once-unified land, as different tribes and clans carved out their own territories and developed distinct cultures. The connection to their shared history and the dragons that had protected them began to fade into memory, replaced by a newfound sense of rivalry and hostility towards one another. 500 years have passed since that fateful day, and a lone warrior, Raya, has emerged in the midst of this chaotic world. Born with an innate sense of duty and an inherent need to protect her people, Raya feels an insatiable hunger to learn more about the ancient past that has been lost to her generation. Her life's purpose is clear: to track down the fabled last dragon, hoped to be the last remnant of a bygone era, and thereby set right the mistakes of her people's past. As Raya embarks on her perilous journey, she finds herself burdened with the weight of responsibility, particularly since the people of Kumandra now brandishes distrust towards one another. The tribe of her own mother, the Talon, harbors long-standing animosity towards the neighboring Heart tribe, who in turn distrust the Tail tribe and their practices. Each clan touts their own distinct culture, often unwilling to accept the perspectives of others, and so the people are scattered, their isolation strengthened by age-old feuds. Raya's people, the Talon, lack trust in the benevolence of strangers; nonetheless, the determined warrior's pursuit for the last dragon remains unwavering. Convinced in the prophecy that the dragon holds the key to healing the cracks that have begun to split Kumandra apart, Raya accepts the challenge that lies ahead. Little does she know that this journey will uncover unexplored aspects of her own life and call upon unearthing trust in the very society that raised her. The harsh and unforgiving landscape of Kumandra seems poised to devour Raya, forcing her to confront not only her preconceptions of the surrounding tribes but also her own unyielding sense of duty. Along the way, a chance meeting with Namaari, the princess of Sisu of Heart tribe – an enigmatic figure whose words seem to veer between friendship and deceit – forces Raya to navigate the tenuous threads separating friend from foe and determine whether Namaari holds true intentions with her claims that her tribe's protector has awoken. Believing the dragon, an embodiment of Sisu, holds the power to re-bond Kumandra’s factions, thereby banishing the Dark Nests, enigmatic, malevolent beings born from the trauma inflicted upon the land, and subsequently reconstituting the land’s equilibrium; Raya must form fragile bonds with those who begin to see the value of collaboration over continued animosity. Their bond will become the hallmark for reparation and renewal of the relationships they hold between themselves, their tribes, and the natural world. As the divide intensifies and Kumandra teeters on the edge of chaos, Raya puts aside personal protective wear and sets out to harness her resilient spirit and safeguard the unity of her fellow tribes. And, though unsure whether Namaari's heart beats in the same cadence, Raya endeavors with unshakeable courage to fight against their common enemy and secure for Kumandra, a fragile yet critical future of peace and unity.
