Plot

As the sun sets on Halloween weekend 2020, a group of six friends - Alex, Jen, Rachel, Brian, Emily, and Chris - set out to conquer the uncharted territory of rural America. Their mission is to persuade white women to vote, a daunting task in a region where conservative views hold strong. Equipped with idealism, determination, and a passion for democracy, they believe they can make a difference, no matter the odds. The group books a spacious, old farmhouse in the heart of rural America, unaware of the sinister forces that lurk within its walls. As they settle in for the weekend, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and anticipation. They spend the evening sharing stories, playing games, and getting to know the local area. However, it becomes clear that they are not alone. Strange noises echo through the night, and the group begins to experience a series of unsettling events. Despite initial trepidation, the friends decide to power through, attributing the strange happenings to their own imaginations or the quirks of the old house. They spend the night sleeping fitfully, with the exception of Emily, who is more sensitive to the eerie atmosphere. Her unease grows as the night wears on, and she starts to sense a dark presence lurking in the shadows. The next morning, the group discovers a series of disturbing clues scattered throughout the house. They find torn photographs, cryptic messages scrawled on the walls, and an eerie collection of antique medical equipment. The once-harmless house now feels oppressive and menacing, and the friends begin to question their decision to stay. However, it's not just the creepy environment that's causing tension; the group's own dynamics are starting to fray. Chris and Brian, who are dating, are having a heated conversation, while Rachel and Jen are at odds over their differing perspectives on politics. Emily's growing unease makes her increasingly isolated, and Alex becomes frustrated with the group's inaction. As the day wears on, the strange occurrences escalate. They discover a hidden room deep in the basement, containing evidence of a sinister past. The group is horrified to learn that the house was once a site for inhumane medical experiments. The air is thick with foreboding, and the friends realize they should have brought heavy artillery - not just their idealism and determination, but also their wits and resourcefulness to survive this harrowing experience. As night falls, the group finds themselves trapped in the house, surrounded by the remnants of the medical experiments. They frantically search for a way out, but the doors are sealed, and the windows are locked. They're forced to face the dark truth: they are not alone in the house, and the presence they sensed earlier is now closing in. In a desperate bid to escape, the group splits up, searching for a way out. They soon realize that the house is shifting, the layout changing to confuse and mislead them. They're trapped in a never-ending maze, with the dark presence closing in on them from all sides. As the night wears on, the group's dynamics reach a boiling point. Chris and Brian's argument turns violent, while Rachel and Jen's disagreement becomes a shouting match. Emily's unease turns to terror, and Alex is forced to make a difficult decision: prioritize his friends' safety or try to uncover the truth behind the strange occurrences. As the group faces their darkest hour, they're met with a shocking revelation: they're not the only ones who've been lured to the house. There are others, fellow activists and liberal-leaning individuals, who have fallen prey to the same sinister forces. The friends realize they're not fighting just for their own lives but also for the lives of their fellow activists. In a heart-pumping climax, the group must work together to survive against the backdrop of a dark and malevolent force. Will they be able to outsmart the sinister presence and make it out alive, or will they become just another statistic in the long list of casualties in rural America? As the dust settles, the survivors will be left to ponder the true meaning of courage and the true cost of idealism in the face of a sinister and oppressive world.
