Plot

In Rob-B-Hood, a 2006 Hong Kong action comedy film, Fong (played by Jackie Chan) is a compulsive gambler with a serious addiction problem. His life is spiraling out of control as debt collectors hound him relentlessly. What's worse, he has a crippling phobia of babies - their incessant crying, dirty diapers, and annoying lullabies send him fleeing in terror. Fong's troubles are multifaceted, and his inability to pay off his debts has led to the loss of his home and his girlfriend leaving him. As a last resort, he is forced to take on a new "business" - babysitting. However, he's not babysitting just any baby, but a 3-month-old child, Boomer, who has an uncanny knack for being a "good baby" and attracting strangers. Boomer is the child of a rich businessman, Chor Kok-lok, and his wife. They're a loving family, but due to their busy schedules, they've been unable to care for Boomer themselves. Enter Fong, who's desperate for a chance to make some easy money and redeem himself. Fong initially struggles to adapt to his new babysitting role. He's overwhelmed by the constant crying, diaper-changing responsibilities, and Boomer's insatiable hunger. Yet, as Boomer's presence grows on him, Fong starts to see an opportunity. He begins to use the baby as leverage, posing as his father to impress the wealthy elite and scam them for financial benefits. Fong's new scheme involves him posing as Chor Kok-lok's friend, a high-stakes gambler who's made a fortune but is struggling to spend it. He convinces a group of wealthy investors to back him for a big gamble, claiming the baby is a symbol of good luck. As Fong becomes more confident in his new role, he starts to enjoy the luxuries and comforts that come with being a "parent." He dresses Boomer in designer clothes, takes him to fancy restaurants, and even starts to form a bond with the child. However, things take a complicated turn when Boomer is kidnapped by a rival mafia family, led by the menacing, Triad-hustled crime lord, Lui. Fong must use all his wits and cunning to rescue Boomer and save himself from debt collectors and rival gangs. Along the way, he learns to put aside his phobias and genuinely care for the child he's grown to love. As the tension builds, Fong finds himself trapped in a web of deceit and danger. He needs to juggle his new responsibilities as a "parent" with his old life as a compulsive gambler. In a thrilling climax, Fong must use his martial arts skills to rescue Boomer and take down Lui's gang. Throughout the film, the comedy and action come together seamlessly, showcasing Jackie Chan's signature blend of humor and athleticism. The film's climax features a heart-pumping, action-packed showdown between Fong and Lui's gang in an abandoned warehouse. In the end, Fong succeeds in rescuing Boomer, and the two become an unlikely duo. Despite initial reservations, Fong develops a deep affection for the child, who helps him to overcome his phobias and his gambling addiction. As the film concludes, Fong has found a new sense of purpose - taking care of Boomer and starting anew. With his life finally back on track, he's ready to face the future and make amends for past mistakes.
