Shazam!

Plot
In a gritty and realistic world where superheroes seem more fiction than reality, there exists a mysterious and ancient being known as the Wizard, who takes on different forms across time. His latest reincarnation finds himself in the midst of a vast, desert landscape, seeking a worthy successor to inherit his powers. The Wizard's search eventually leads him to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he encounters young Billy Batson, an orphan living at St. Mary of Redmond Orphanage under the care of Mrs. and Mr. Gorstein. Billy, a scruffy and wise-cracking teenager, has been through a tumultuous life, bouncing from one foster home to another. Following yet another disappointing arrangement, he finds solace at Redmond Orphanage, a home led by the compassionate Sister Mary. On one fateful day, while traversing the city, Billy and the Wizard collide. Noticing the boy's optimism and hunger for adventure, the Wizard believes Billy to be the correct individual to fulfill his prophecy - a chosen descendant who will become the new champion. The Wizard bestows upon Billy a single, magic word - 'Shazam!' - which, when spoken aloud, unlocks an incredible transformation. Instantaneously, the teenage boy's physical form changes, matured to match his inner sense of heroism and self-assurance. Donning the mantle of Shazam, the heroic alter ego unleashes Billy's boundless energy and wisdom. Billy, however, finds himself struggling to grasp the extent of his newfound abilities. With Shazam's powers come incredible strength, agility, and unmatched energy, but also heightened self-awareness and understanding. This leads to many instances of moral dilemma, where Billy must balance his own nature with his hero persona. Following an encounter where Billy inadvertently foils the plans of two burglars, the existence of Shazam inadvertently attracts the attention of a supervillain named Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, previously the Wizard's one-time apprentice. Haunted by the Wizard's refusal to acknowledge him as his rightful heir, Sivana is consumed by rage and greed as he seeks to acquire the Wizard's powers for himself. As Shazam, Billy begins to hone his skills and come to terms with his incredible abilities, allowing him to rescue people and thwart malicious schemes orchestrated by wrongdoers. Fostered by his genuine need to find his true purpose, Billy must blend his day-to-day normalcy with high-stakes superhero work. Meanwhile, Sivana's obsession and desire for the Wizard's magical artifact sees the dark wizard slowly unlock the secrets behind the Shazam formula. Driven by ambition and disappointment, Sivana secretly seeks to harness the magical artifact's might in order to mold reality according to his own insidious will. After uncovering the shocking existence and power of Shazam, Sivana launches a bold invasion, demonstrating overwhelming force on the unsuspecting city. With determination on his side and an eagerness to counter Sivana's malevolent plans, Billy accepts the adventure that now befalls him. The streets of Philadelphia will be forever altered, not simply by the bravery and unwavering spirit that possesses Shazam's heart, but through encounters that help solidify the very people Billy cherishes: Sister Mary, Shazam, a young boy named Eugene, and, above all, Billy's foster brother Freddy, who are most steadfast in their loyalty toward him. Thanks to Shazam - a being who stands united with selflessness in every heartbeat - a brand of hope becomes palpable to Philadelphia's dwindled spirits, forging pathways that intersect courage, justice, and hope. For through Shazam, every battle he confronts only represents a test of the strength only he embodies, and a reinforcement of his will to face all the complexities humanity presents.
