Sheep Without a Shepherd

Plot
Li and his wife, A Yu, were living their dream life in Thailand. They had built a small, yet thriving business that brought in a steady income, allowing them to provide a good life for their two beautiful daughters. Their relationship seemed perfect, with A Yu working diligently alongside Li to ensure their daughters' every need was met. Their eldest daughter, who would have been around twelve years old at the time, was a lively and curious child who brought immense joy to her family. However, one fateful day, their carefree existence was shattered when their eldest daughter was brutally assaulted by another student at her school. This student, a boy known to the family, had a twisted and sadistic streak that he often let loose on his peers. The assault was a traumatic event that left the young girl shaken and terrified. In an effort to protect her daughter from what had happened and to avoid the stress and trauma of a prolonged investigation, Li and A Yu took matters into their own hands. They were deeply worried about the long-term effects of the assault on their daughter's mental health and were desperate to shield her from further harm. A decision was made to have the boy, who had committed the assault, killed. This decision, though drastic, seemed like the lesser of two evils to Li and A Yu, who believed that their daughter's well-being and peace of mind were paramount. They enlisted the help of some of their associates, who took care of the boy's disappearance. As news of the boy's death broke out, the police launched an investigation. Li and A Yu knew they had to tread carefully, as even a hint of their involvement would put them at risk of being charged with a heinous crime. They knew they had to cover their tracks carefully and ensure that no one would ever suspect them. In an attempt to distract themselves from the guilt and fear that constantly lingered, Li and A Yu turned to their business for solace. They became more consumed by their work than ever before, throwing themselves into every project without a care in the world. But beneath the surface, the weight of their secret was slowly crushing them. A Yu struggled to cope with the guilt of what they had done, constantly looking over her shoulder in fear of being discovered. She knew that the consequences of getting caught would be severe, and the thought of losing her family was unbearable. Li, however, seemed more confident in their decision, convinced that hiding the truth was the best way to protect their daughter. But deep down, he couldn't shake off the nagging feeling of unease. As the days passed, the lines between right and wrong became increasingly blurred, and Li and A Yu found themselves trapped in a web of deceit and lies. Their lives were forever changed, and with the weight of the secret growing heavier by the day, they knew they couldn't keep this a secret for long. As the police continued their investigation, they found a new lead: a hidden grave in a rural field, where the body of the boy was buried. This discovery forced Li and A Yu to confront the reality of their actions, and the full weight of their guilt came crashing down on them. They knew that they were living a lie and that the consequences of their decisions would soon catch up with them. The family's once-happy home life, once so full of love and laughter, was now a facade. They were stuck living a life of constant fear, never knowing when the truth would come out, and never being able to find true peace. As the investigation continued and evidence mounted, Li and A Yu's world began to crumble. The family's life, once so full of promise and potential, was slowly unravelling, and they found themselves trapped in a desperate struggle to conceal the truth and protect their family. In this tragic story, the family's decision to cover up a crime has led to a downward spiral of fear, guilt, and mistrust. The consequences of their actions will ultimately lead them down a path of destruction, where the very fabric of their family is torn apart by the weight of their secret.
