Sultan

Plot
The movie Sultan, a sports drama directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starring Salman Khan, is an inspirational tale of resilience and determination. Sultan Ali Khan, a seasoned and accomplished wrestler, played by Salman Khan, is the undisputed champion in the mixed martial arts (MMA) arena. However, as the years go by, Sultan's passion for wrestling slowly fades, and he decides to take up a new profession as a gym owner. Set in the northern Indian city of Varanasi, Sultan has a happy marriage with Amaneek (Randeep Hooda), his sister-in-law and a devoted wife to his brother Murad (Anant Sharma). Despite his seemingly perfect life, Sultan struggles with an unresolved issue – his troubled past with his wrestling days when he lost his first match in a high-school tournament. This loss left him devastated, which led to a deep-seated fear, manifesting as a fear of losing and a tendency to become aggressive whenever he's faced with defeat. Sultan's return to the wrestling arena is not just about seeking redemption but also a newfound sense of purpose. As he begins to train again, he is accompanied by his protégé, Aamir (Amit Sadh), a young and ambitious wrestler with immense potential. Sultan sees an opportunity to rekindle his old self and help Aamir realize his wrestling dreams. However, Sultan's decision to revive his wrestling career puts pressure on his relationship with his brother, Murad, and his family. Murad's disapproval leads to tension between the two, with Sultan's decision being perceived as an abandonment of family and their traditional values. Furthermore, his brother and wife's disapproval only adds to Sultan's internal conflicts. Meanwhile, a new face enters Sultan's life – Aman (Anushka Sharma), a beautiful, intelligent, and kind-hearted doctor who works closely with Sultan at his gym. Aman, initially an outsider to Sultan's closely-knit family dynamics, helps bring a sense of stability and normalcy to Sultan's life. Sultan's journey towards regaining his wrestling confidence is not only a physical one but also emotional and psychological. As he faces numerous setbacks and rejections, Sultan struggles with his ego and pride. He is forced to confront the reality of his physical limitations and the inevitable effects of aging on his once impressive physique. Aman helps Sultan address some of his deep-seated issues, including his anger and fear of losing, while also teaching him the importance of humility and letting go. Her influence is pivotal in helping Sultan break down the walls that have held him back all these years. The turning point in Sultan's journey comes when he enters an MMA tournament with Aamir as his opponent. Although Sultan eventually loses the tournament, he earns respect for his willingness to take the risk and challenge himself. As the story unfolds, the realisation sets in that Sultan's decision to pursue wrestling is driven not just by his ego but also by a desire to prove himself to his family, and ultimately, to find redemption and acceptance. Sultan's unwavering determination and Aman's unwavering support provide a foundation for a triumphant conclusion. In what proves to be an action-packed climax to the film, Sultan's unyielding spirit shines through as he competes and wins the India national wrestling championships, securing his spot for the international wrestling tournament. In his final fight at the international tournament, an injured Sultan finds himself facing a new opponent, one who seems to match him in skill and agility. Sultan refuses to give up despite his physical limitations and goes on to compete in the most iconic and grueling match of his career. He ultimately loses in the fight but is triumphant in spirit as he earns the respect and applause of his fans, friends, and family alike.
