Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Plot

In a hidden underground lair, four genetically modified turtles - Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael - live with their wise and aged mentor, Splinter. The turtles are named after their favorite artists of the Italian Renaissance and are trained in the art of ninjutsu, a Japanese discipline of stealth and combat. Raised in secret, the brothers live within the walls of the lair, fed on pizza and trained in their unique skills by Splinter. Their lives change when a sinister crime lord emerges in New York City. Shredder, the ruthless leader of the Foot Clan, is on a quest for power, employing ruthless tactics to gain control over the city. His Foot Clan members, disguised as ninjas, strike fear into the hearts of the citizens, but the turtles know they must confront him. Splinter instructs them that Shredder is Shredder in name, but a different person from a previous Shredder he knew. Splinter has an ongoing feud with the previous Shredder, the one who killed his pet rat and left him for dead. Meanwhile, Casey Jones, a hockey-masked vigilante with a passion for justice, becomes a new ally to the heroic turtles. Casey becomes a love interest for April O'Neil, a spirited local news reporter, and the two share a blossoming romance. Splinter teaches the turtles the importance of teamwork and strategy, warning them that Shredder has set up an underwater lair. The Foot Clan is secretly gathering an army and preparing to wreak havoc on the city. Shredder sends his most skilled Foot ninjas to capture the turtles, so that they can serve as an exhibit for his master, Krang, a diminutive alien warlord. Krang, the ruler of a distant planet, is obsessed with conquering Earth and enlisting the help of Shredder and his Foot Clan. Shredder agrees, sending his ninjas to New York City to capture the turtles. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael must put their newfound skills into practice as they face the Foot Clan's relentless assault. Shredder uses a massive, armored machine to seek out the turtles and destroy them, with the intention of turning them into specimens for his superior, Krang. In their secret base, the turtles plan out a battle strategy to take down the Foot and reach their lair, but things only seem to spiral out of control. The turtles embark on a mission to rescue Casey Jones, while Splinter, with the help of April O'Neil, tries to infiltrate the City Hall and get information on the whereabouts of the turtles. Meanwhile, Donatello and Michelangelo get kidnapped and held hostage by the Foot, forcing Raphael to make an incredible rescue. Raphael must use his cunning and agility to outsmart Bebop and Rocksteady, two Foot members, who serve as a comedic relief, in order to reach Donatello and Michelangelo before it's too late. He comes up with a plan and devises a series of traps in order to take down the ninjas and escape from the lair. His bravery earns him the respect of his brothers. The Turtles and their allies must join forces to stop the menace of Shredder. With new determination and a sense of unity, the heroic turtles face off against the Foot Clan in an epic showdown to protect their city and their home.

This adaptation is atrocious. In the original comics, Splinter was a Japanese martial artist, a rival and former friend of Shredder, who was later mutated into a rat – a tragic fate. But in this film, he's literally just a rat that mutated. It completely misses the spirit of the source material. Please, no sequels.

Okay, here's that review, translated for you: These teenage mutant turtles are like Justin Bieber incarnate – totally American teenagers! The elevator scene is laugh-out-loud funny. Sure, the movie's rough around the edges, like how those humans survive a tumble down a snowy mountain, or where the poison goes after that high fall. Just gotta watch it like a cartoon. Megan Fox is rocking that permanent pornstar look, paired with two equally bad actors from who-knows-where. After seeing this, the turtles don't even seem that ugly anymore, but Splinter? Still an abomination.
