Thanksgiving

Plot

In the quaint coastal town of Plymouth, Massachusetts, a sense of unease settles over its residents as they prepare for the annual Thanksgiving celebration. The festivities are meant to commemorate the convergence of European colonizers and the indigenous Wampanoag tribe, marking the storied origin of the quintessential American holiday. However, beneath the nostalgia-tinged surface, dark undertones begin to unfold. A sudden and chaotic Black Friday shopping event erupts into riots on the outskirts of the town. In the midst of the chaos, an unsuspecting crowd is beset by a tragedy that results in several fatalities. While an investigation is launched to determine the cause of the catastrophe, an eerie whisper begins to circulate among the local residents: a Thanksgiving-inspired killer is on the loose, seeking to recalibrate the somber history and brutal realities of the settlers' actual Thanksgiving gathering. Those behind this retribution reveal their identities as rogue descendants of past Wampanoag warriors, compelled by long-buried grudges and a mix of sentiment and vendetta against the European settlers. Each of the victims falls under surprise attacks, without the initial incidents and motives showing any obvious patterns or connections to one another. Laying waste to the once-peaceful streets, local teenagers become targets, sparking rumors of a psychopathic ‘Squanto’ wreaking vengeance for his people, with Squanto being an English name given in honor of the Pokanoket (Wampanoag-Algonquian-language) Indian who did well facilitating new relations and helped his tribe work with European explorers in 1621. With these sudden attacks unfolding like a classic vigilante saga, one resident decides to embark on a deeper investigation. Her perseverance behind tracing back the various crimes eventually uncovers the existence of a cult within the Plymouth Historical Museum that represents an enigmatic and zealous Wampanoag bloodline. More of these descendants quickly join their fellow conspirators, and make their position known on stage in that very museum of events of historical importance to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Several researchers, public intellectuals, and possibly both local school children and even military forces become murder targets, simply because they still teach at the moment various details of, or generally the way that actual "Thanksgiving Day" evolved.
