The Big Sweat

The Big Heat is a 1953 American crime drama film directed by Fritz Lang, starring Glenn Ford, Lee Marvin, and Gloria Grahame. In this film, however, the ex-con character's real name is Dave Bannion, a hard-boiled police lieutenant rather than an ex-con who gets immediately embroiled in a robbery. The movie I will cover, with similar themes to "The Big Heat," is called The Big Heat. Based on an unpublished novel by William P. McGivern, The Big Heat tells the story of Dave Bannion, a tenacious and diligent police lieutenant who, upon the sudden and unexplained murder of his partner, becomes fiercely dedicated to finding justice for the victim and uncovering the truth behind the crime. Upon investigation, Bannion's inquiry unravels the involvement of local gangsters and sets off a cat-and-mouse game between the lieutenant and those responsible for the murder. Upon learning of his wife's (Deborah Kerr) affair with a wealthy businessman, Bannion is shaken but decides to move forward with his duties. Unaware at first, his investigation into his partner's murder soon leads him to suspect a connection between his own wife and the gangster's wife, Doris (Gloria Grahame). He then uncovers the dark connection his wife and the gangster's wife shared and the subsequent involvement of the gangsters in the murder of his partner. Bannion's relentless drive to solve his partner's murder, now intertwined with his discovery of his wife's infidelity, creates a series of intense conflicts. This sets him up for a fierce confrontation with the leader of the local gangsters, known as Big Dave, as Bannion's pursuit drives closer to the truth behind the crime. On the other hand, in the movie, "The Big Sweat", we are introduced to an ex-con who just got released from jail. This ex-con becomes immediately entangled in a robbery case, hounded by a tenacious FBI agent. However, the details of the plot remain scarce; therefore, it is likely the movie does not exist.
