The Communion Girl

Plot
In the sweltering summer of 1987, Sara, a young woman with a penchant for adventure, and her friend Rebe, embark on a night of revelry at a nightclub. As they leave the club and indulge in drugs, their carefree evening takes an unexpected turn. Amidst the chaos and confusion, they stumble upon a peculiar find - a doll clad in a communion dress. The discovery sparks a series of eerie events that will forever alter the trajectory of Sara's life. The doll seems to possess an otherworldly presence, as if it holds secrets and mysteries that only reveal themselves under the most peculiar circumstances. As Sara becomes increasingly obsessed with the doll, she begins to unravel a tangled web of lies, deceit, and tragedy that has haunted the town for decades. As the mystery deepens, Sara's fascination turns into an all-consuming fixation. She becomes convinced that the doll holds the key to unlocking the truth about her own troubled past and the dark secrets that have plagued her family for generations. Rebe, initially skeptical of Sara's newfound obsession, finds herself drawn into the vortex of supernatural events. As the summer wears on, Sara's grip on reality begins to slip. Her relationships with those around her begin to fray, and the boundaries between fantasy and reality blur. The doll, once a harmless trinket, transforms into a malevolent force that seems to exert an uncontrollable influence over Sara's actions and decisions. As the truth behind the communion girl's existence slowly comes to light, Sara is forced to confront the darker aspects of her own psyche and the sinister forces that have been manipulating her all along. Will she be able to break free from the doll's hold and reclaim her sense of self, or will she succumb to the dark allure of the mysterious figure in white?

I couldn't keep watching. Or, depending on the nuance you want to convey: * I couldn't get through it. * I couldn't finish it. * It was unwatchable.

Watched this for the eye candy and scares! (Why don't young filmmakers in our country make horror flicks? All we get are these angsty teen romance dramas, they're just not good.) Spain knows how to do horror, so I went in expecting a Chucky-esque doll! Thinking I'd see a doll turn evil and start killing!!! But never expected the movie to hit me with such a simple moral lesson! Firstly, don't pick up random stuff, especially dolls, and even if your dog brings it to you, leave it alone! Secondly, don't be a couple of clueless young girls wandering around at night! Thirdly, don't be overly curious, just leave that doll on the side of the road!!! The reason I have the guts to watch horror is because I treat them as cautionary tales! R...

How can a Spanish horror film be this awful and boring?!

2.5 stars. A very cliché chain-curse horror film. I thought that a Spanish horror film, with its reputation, could bring something different to this kind of story. But the result is just like those American horror films, and not even that scary. However, I quite liked the ending. A twist revealing that everything was a self-inflicted trap.
