The Hitman's Bodyguard

In a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, two vastly different men must put aside their differences and work together to achieve a common goal. Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) is the world's top bodyguard, known for his impeccable abilities and unyielding professionalism. After a stint in prison for a botched job, he's back in business, taking on high-paying clients and impressing everyone with his impressive skillset. On the other hand, we have Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson), a ruthless hitman with a very checkered past. Kincaid has made a name for himself as a cold-blooded and efficient killer, and his services are highly sought-after by some of the most notorious crime lords and organizations in the world. He's a man without remorse, always looking for the next big paycheck and the next adrenaline rush. When the film opens, we find Kincaid locked up in a maximum-security prison, a target for several different groups who want him dead. It turns out that Kincaid has made a deal with Amara (Goran Visnjic), a high-ranking government official, to testify against his former employer, Vladislav Dukhovich, the man responsible for the brutal murder of ICA director Maria Kcin (Archie Madekwe). Dukhovich, a former East German and psychopathic agent of Mayday (Kate McKinnon) group, ordered her death to conceal evidence that ties him to Human trafficking. With Kincaid about to be released from prison under terms of witness protection, Michael Bryce is hired to be his bodyguard, responsible for ensuring the hitman reaches the International Court of Justice on time to testify against Dukhovich. At first, Michael is hesitant to take on the job, knowing Kincaid's questionable past and the potential risks involved. However, after having his life threatened by one of Kincaid's prison escapees, he decides to take on the challenge. The unlikely duo embarks on a hilarious and action-packed journey across Europe, navigating through streets of Paris, Amsterdam, and Rome. Along the way, we witness the tense relationship between Bryce and Kincaid as they bicker and argue over everything, from Kincaid's questionable moral compass to Bryce's overly cautious and uptight demeanor. As they face numerous threats, including Dukhovich's own operatives, the pair's dynamic evolves, revealing their deeper connections and motivations. We see glimpses of a more complex Kincaid, who has a deep sense of responsibility for his actions and a longing for redemption. On the other hand, we learn about Bryce's troubled past, including the event that led to his imprisonment and the circumstances surrounding his mother's passing, helping to explain why he now guards his heart and is terrified of losing loved ones. Throughout their journey, the unlikely duo is pursued by Dukhovich's henchmen, each with their own vendetta against Kincaid and their determined determination to stop the hitman from testifying. Michael and Darius's relationship is initially prickly, but it gradually develops into a cordial partnership. When they're forced to take a short break to try and communicate effectively, old bonds that need healing are established. The characters also have different personalities that contribute to the constant bickering between them. Bryce is an uptight and proper human being that always stays at a good distance from Kincaid. Kincaid has been arrested for high profile assassination cases where people have frequently gone through being at a bad place after the fact. As the stakes grow higher, the tension between Bryce and Kincaid builds, resulting in some ridiculously awkward and humorous moments, especially whenever Kincaid decides to put on his usual arrogant facade or Michael's attempts to control Kincaid's wild lifestyle fail miserably, reminding us of their marked differences. Their differing personalities and vastly different ethical standards make their interactions explosive, adding a touch of spice to the already gripping and riveting plot. When they reach the world's deadliest scene of a killfest for the trial ahead, despite the tension between the Kincaid and Bryce and even in a chaotic predicament, Kincaid's unexpected moral turn occurs. Under immense pressure, Michael manages to make Kincaid change his heart by saving the life of ICA director Maria Kcin, putting him at odds with Dukhovich's team of henchmen, further sealing Kincaid's reluctant turn as an unlikely bodyguard and good man to save someone from harm. When this sequence occurs, strong chemistry, now evident, between these two unlikable but convincing individuals comes to prominence. This unexpected development serves to show a meaningful redemption arc for Kincaid, albeit one that remains quite questionable and open to debate, while solidifying the ties between the bond shared by Kincaid and Michael.
