The Unholy Trinity

The Unholy Trinity

Plot

In the late 1870s, the rugged landscape of Montana is ablaze with tension and violence. Within hours of his scheduled execution, Isaac Broadway sits on death row, exchanging a somber glance with his estranged son, Henry. Staring at each other from opposite sides of a cold, prison stone wall, the two men share a moment that would forever change the course of Henry's life. Before a swarm of onlookers, a sense of urgency lingers in Isaac's eyes, a hint of desperation that seems to grow with every passing moment. This is his final goodbye. As Henry moves closer to the boundary wall, his father's voice speaks the words that alter everything. Isaac gasps the name of his nemesis, pointing a bony finger toward the door of the penitentiary. With precision and haste, Henry recalls the long-simmering vendetta between the Broadways and a man named Cassius O'Malley. He is the key figure behind the embezzlement and assault accusations that Isaac Broadway is about to be executed for. Consequently, Henry knows his dying father requires him to make good on a life-long promise. Wrenching and unnervingly cool, Henry grins as if fueled by a resolve he never thought possible. A firm sense of vengeance illuminates his face. For once, Henry shows the resolve and determination that sets him apart from the broken, frail man he was before. Henry makes it clear to the gathered prison guards and overseers, not to let just anyone harm Isaac, but specifically Mr. Cassius O'Malley – which creates quite a commotion within both the authorities and regular inmates who had been captivated by the execution. Desperate to make good on this last vow, Henry embarks upon an unlikely journey across treacherous terrain, leaving behind everything he's ever known. As he descends into the chaos and turmoil-laden world of Trinity – the hidden town he is forced to confront – everything is going terribly wrong. With no more than the cryptic words of his estranged father and a fathoms-deep anger that's bubbling within him for motivation, Henry sets out to confront Cassius O'Malley. The unlikely turn of events traps him in Trinity, setting him on a path from which there is no return. His desperate determination is made harder by new adversaries like a very serious and polished new sheriff named Gabriel Dove. On meeting Gabriel Dove, Henry must rethink his resolution of confronting O'Malley, for the justice that Gabriel brings, shows him that having a badge does not signify that justice is clear-cut, in this town the truth can be laced with secrets as subtle as whispers. Everything from corrupt town officials to those hooded St. Christians, seem bent on snuffing the light out of Henry's life and will leave him running, trapped within the vortex of distrust that swarms through Trinity. Taut with tension, and constantly forcing Henry to read the hidden meaning behind a vast landscape full of deceit and suffering, The Unholy Trinity strips the veil off of his newly discovered relationships. St. Christopher however unravels his mysterious identity, gradually appearing more ominous within Henry's daily life. Finding himself immersed in the heart of this place, Henry experiences such extremes - ranging from disillusionment and fury, to empathy and even hints of curiosity. And for one moment, Henry glimpses something beautiful in his past; something as elusive as a fleeting smile – if Cassius O'Malley is apprehended with any amount of ease or luck - then nothing less than the execution of his promise by his dying father would seem a more tangible truth to it. But only when he discovers the reality of Trinity, the people who live here, and the way fate unravels with a mesmerizing intensity will Henry ultimately discover his journey within this seemingly unforgiving world and the ghosts that haunt it.
