The Whole Ten Yards

Plot

The Whole Ten Yards is an action comedy film that revolves around Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski and his wife, Jill. Jimmy, played by Bruce Willis, is a former hitman who has left his life of violence behind to start anew in the suburbs with Jill. Jimmy's newfound domesticity has become a far cry from his previous occupation, which involved carrying out high-stakes hits with precision and finesse. Jill, played by Natasha Henstridge, is also a skilled hitwoman who has a unique reputation in the underworld. However, unlike Jimmy, she has yet to pull off a clean hit, always leaving a trail of evidence and chaos in her wake. Despite this, the couple has grown accustomed to each other's quirks and are content with their life together. Jimmy's newfound domestic life has made him a man of routine and order. He is particularly fond of cleaning and cooking, often finding solace in the mundane tasks. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted by an unexpected return to their past. Enter Oz, played by Matthew Perry, an old acquaintance who has a long-standing debt to repay. Oz has come to Jimmy and Jill's doorstep on a mission to rescue his beloved wife, Cynthia, who has been kidnapped by a group of vicious thugs. What Oz fails to reveal is that Cynthia is none other than Jill's intended target, a fact that would normally set off a red flag in Jill's hitwoman sensibilities. However, Jill, being the loyal and caring wife that she is, ultimately decides to put aside her duties as a hitwoman to help Oz rescue Cynthia. As a result, Jimmy is dragged back into the world of violence and mayhem that he had worked so hard to leave behind. As they embark on a perilous journey to rescue Cynthia, Jimmy and Jill's personalities are put to the test. Jimmy, who has grown accustomed to a life of peace and tranquility, is forced to confront his demons once again. Jill, meanwhile, has to confront the fact that her skills as a hitwoman may be rusty, and that she might not be as good at her job as she once thought. The film's central plot revolves around the unlikely duo's quest to rescue Cynthia. Along the way, they encounter a motley crew of characters, from bumbling henchmen to wise-cracking informants. Despite the chaos that surrounds them, Jimmy and Jill maintain a banter-filled rapport, often trading witty lines and humorous jabs that reveal their enduring affection for each other. As the stakes grow higher, Jimmy and Jill are forced to put aside their differences and rely on each other to stay alive. Their partnership, though initially forced, ultimately becomes a powerful bond that proves to be the key to their success. Throughout the film, Jimmy's domestic life is used as a backdrop to highlight the absurdities of his hitman past. The juxtaposition between Jimmy's love of cleaning and his penchant for violence creates a comedic foil that underscores the film's lighthearted tone. The Whole Ten Yards is a lighthearted action comedy that offers a humorous take on the world of hitmen. With a talented cast, including Bruce Willis and Natasha Henstridge, the film delivers a series of witty one-liners and humorous set pieces that are sure to entertain. Despite its lighthearted tone, the film still manages to tackle themes of loyalty, trust, and the complexities of the human relationship.
