Plot

The Wild Thornberrys Movie follows the story of the Thornberry family, a documentary filmmaking family who travels the world capturing exotic wildlife on camera. The parents, Nigel and Marianne, are passionate about their work, but their children, Eliza, Debbie, and Donnie, often get dragged into their adventures without much say. Eliza, an 11-year-old girl with a gift that allows her to talk to animals, usually finds herself taking center stage in the family's escapades. At the beginning of the film, we see the Thornberrys in Africa, filming a documentary on various animals. The two sisters, Eliza and Debbie, 14 and 15 years old respectively, are constantly at odds with each other. Debbie, the more popular and outgoing sister, often gets frustrated with Eliza's quirky behavior and constant interruptions to film their adventures. Eliza, on the other hand, feels like she's always getting stuck with the responsibilities of being the family's animal whisperer, while Debbie gets to enjoy the more glamorous aspects of their travels. However, their relationship is put to the test when Debbie meets a mysterious and handsome boy named Donnie's friend, a guy named Tito who eventually gives her a necklace. At the same time, the Thornberry family stumbles upon a sinister plot by a poacher named Nigel's long-lost brother, Doug, who seeks to capture an extremely rare and endangered species: the lowland gorillas. As the family becomes more involved in saving the gorillas, Eliza must confront her gift in a way she never has before. She discovers that she possesses a unique ability that sets her apart from the other Thornberrys: she can talk to animals, and this power allows her to communicate with the gorillas. Meanwhile Debbie, who is struggling to balance her own life with her family's crazy adventures, begins to realize the value of her sister's gift and the importance of teamwork in order to save the gorillas. However, Eliza is faced with the daunting challenge of making a difficult choice: save her sister's life, or save the gorillas. When a group of poachers takes Debbie hostage, Eliza is forced to think on her feet and use her gift to come up with a plan to save her sister. However, the only way to communicate with the gorillas without the poachers noticing is by giving up her unique gift. With her family's help, Eliza devises a plan that involves giving up her gift but also using her knowledge of the gorillas to come up with a way to distract the poachers and sneak her way into saving her sister. But when Eliza's gift is lost, the family must work together, using all their knowledge and skills, to save Debbie and the gorillas from the clutches of the poacher. In the end, the Thornberrys successfully save Debbie and the gorillas, but not without great risk and emotional turmoil. Eliza comes to terms with her gift, realizing that it's not something she can take for granted, and the two sisters grow closer, learning to appreciate and respect each other's unique qualities. The film ends with the Thornberrys returning home, reflecting on the lessons they've learned, and Eliza wondering if she'll ever regain her gift.
