Thus, beginning a chain reaction that echoes centuries later. Now, in the year 1933, Rick and Evelyn are still exploring ancient mysteries. This time, however, they do not venture alone; they are joined by their young son Alex. Alex inadvertently possesses the amulet of the Scorpion King. As the sun sets, they realize that this seemingly innocuous artifact is, in reality, a key to the elusive and powerful Bracelet of Anubis, which the Scorpion King wears in the prologue. However, before Rick, Evelyn, and Alex can comprehend its significance, Alex is kidnapped by an immortal version of their old nemesis, Imhotep. Riding the resurrected spirit of Imhotep, the wrath of Anubis pours down on the unsuspecting O'Connell family. With his armies marching towards them, their only hope for survival lies in the legendary Scorpion King. Rick and Evelyn journey into the heart of an excavation site, where they hope to locate the ancient pharaoh, who has the power to resurrect the fallen warrior. Chancing upon a hidden chamber containing two sarcophagi, they begin unearthing ancient texts in an effort to unmask the identity of the king. Convinced it's not him but his very ancestor, the resurrected Egyptian king, is revealed as the holder of the secret in the vast desert amidst stormy darkness. Bringing the long-lost king's essence back to life, it leads Rick to realising the correct true hero of his legend's sacrifice - The Scorpion King actually possessed the medallion which is shared with Rick who found it on imhotep from after the previous adventure. In return for Evelyn's safety and in a desperate attempt to shield Alex from the looming destruction, her former fiancé, Jonathan, resurrects the dead brother of Jonathan, who had taken control of the immortal dead Scorpion King. Noting that the newly brought man in life lies somewhere near the powerful dead king's past, Scorpion King ultimately prefers death over being a slave to his inescapable destiny of an eternal war, saying that his people were driven to suffering at which he wished to die 'In order of the Scorpion' allowing his soul with peaceful abandonment that makes his sacrifice which will free these human enemies from never-ending war in his unexisted physical torment through which they all could leave free today without Anubis rising and unleashing endless mayhem on the earth.
