The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is a 2008 action-adventure supernatural fantasy film directed by Rob Cohen, and is the third installment in the Mummy film series. The movie takes place in modern-day China, where archaeologist Rick O'Connell (played by Brendan Fraser) is back on an new adventure, this time facing a powerful foe who threatens the world. Rick O'Connell is in Shanghai, China, where he is tasked with finding the tomb of the Dragon Emperor, a powerful ruler from the ancient Han dynasty. However, he soon realizes that he is not the only one after the tomb. He encounters a fellow archaeologist named Victor Hennox (played by John Hannah), who is working for the powerful wealthy businessman, Jet Li's character, the Emperor's General and a ruthless warlord, Han Tao (who was later changed to Commander Chiu Ye) (played by Liu Chia-hui), the General of the Emperor. Meanwhile, in London, a powerful sorceress named Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell (played by Maria Bello) is trying to prevent the tomb from falling into the wrong hands. She is aided by her son, Alex O'Connell (played by Luke Ford), a college student who is still learning how to use his magical abilities. Back in China, Rick, Victor, and a team of explorers arrive at the site where the tomb is said to be. Upon entering the tomb, they discover the mummified body of the Dragon Emperor (played by Jet Li), a powerful ruler who had been dead for over 2,000 years. Unbeknownst to them, Emperor Ming is brought to life by a magical artifact known as the magical crystal ball, an orb made from a rare Chinese crystal, which awakens the emperor. As fate would have it, the magical powers of the orb choose Alex O'Connell, who is still learning how to control his own powers, and mistakenly chooses him as the vessel for the rebirth of the Dragon Emperor. Alex begins to undergo a physical and spiritual transformation, becoming a powerful warrior with supernatural strength and abilities. The Emperor's General, Han Tao, reveals to Rick and the team that the Dragon Emperor has a powerful artifact known as the golden amulet, which grants immense powers to the wearer. The Emperor sets out to gather the three ancient disks that would grant him immortality. His primary goal is to conquer the world, using his powers to control and dominate all those who stand in his path. Rick's team must now team up to stop the resurrected Emperor Ming. Rick returns to action, aided by Victor, an Englishman with a mysterious past connected to Evelyn's earlier expedition, and Evelyn, who is determined to use her knowledge and skills to stop the Emperor's reign. Evelyn is joined by her son Alex, who is still grappling with his newfound powers and the transformation that is taking place within him. With Rick and Victor's help, Evelyn and Alex must find the disks and destroy them before the Emperor can gather them and gain ultimate power.
