The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Plot

Bella Swan, a young high school student, is struggling to cope with the sudden and unexpected departure of her vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen, from Forks, Washington. Edward, accompanied by his family, has abandoned Bella, deeming their love for her to be a threat to her safety. The Cullens had been hiding in plain sight, masquerading as an ordinary human family, but Edward's love for Bella had become too much of a risk to tolerate. Initially, Bella is overwhelmed with grief and loss, feeling as though a part of her has been ripped away. Her friendships with her classmates, including her friend Angela, become strained as she withdraws from social interactions, spending most of her time dwelling on thoughts of Edward and their torn-apart relationship. However, her despair is temporarily alleviated through her friendship with Jacob Black, a werewolf and a long-time friend from her life in Forks. As Bella becomes more entrenched in her friendship with Jacob, the two grow closer, sharing a deep emotional connection that she cannot find with anyone else. Jacob, who has had feelings for Bella since her arrival in Forks, begins to reciprocate her attention, but inexplicably keeps his love for her a secret. Unbeknownst to Bella, Jacob is a shape-shifter, part of the Quileute tribe's long-standing tradition of werewolves, tasked with protecting the tribe from the threat of vampires. Meanwhile, Victoria, an irate and grief-stricken vampire, takes it upon herself to find and destroy Bella, fueled by her desire for revenge against the Cullens. Victoria, who had lost her mate, James, to Edward and the Cullens' intervention, had seen the love existent in her mate, and was equally moved by it, for her and James were soulmates who were meant to spend eternity together. It is here that Bella finds herself increasingly involved in the world of supernatural creatures, unwittingly embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between the werewolves of the Quileute tribe, and the Cullens, who are primarily comprised of vampire siblings. James and his family, now distant relatives to the Cullen family, established the vampire residents that inhabit the Pacific Northwest region, battling against the relentless attacks from werewolves, whom they've labeled beasts but share a long, ongoing and complex history with. The unfolding narrative draws Bella into this ancient struggle, prompting her to deliberate the true nature of her relationship with Edward, her association with his family, and her resultant connections to the Cullens, Jacob, and his pack. Bella becomes increasingly entangled in the intricate web of loyalties and love between werewolves and vampires, unwilling to relinquish her love for Edward and straining her friends with Jacob to find inner peace and a solution. With time, a complex, layered narrative surfaces, where intertwined stories weave around Bella's human, supernatural and real-life narratives alongside various fictions and mystical elements that she would eventually take hold of once being so embedded in the very complex relationship, and history, of the Pacific region's myth of werewolves. The movie tells of how she stood between long ages of hatred between two long-standing families which lived hand in hand, intertwined because the mythical wolves protected against threats from the vampires.
