The film is a unique blend of action, drama, and comedy, showcasing Lee's signature style and philosophy. The story follows Tang Lung, a young Chinese martial artist who is invited to Rome, Italy to help his cousins, Chien and Hsu Erkang, in their restaurant business. Upon his arrival, Tang discovers that the cousins are being threatened by a powerful syndicate, led by the ruthless Han, who will stop at nothing to acquire their property. Han has already begun to muscle in on the business, and the cousins are at their wit's end. They see Tang as their only hope, and beg him to stay and help them deal with the syndicate. Tang agrees to stay, but his approach is very different from his cousins'. While they are content to try to reason with Han and his henchmen, Tang takes a more direct approach. He arrives in the city a week before the scheduled showdown and, using his skills, gathers a great deal of information about Han and his operation. He also becomes friends with a local Italian chef, Olga, who is both beautiful and resourceful. As Tang continues to gather more information about the syndicate, Han becomes increasingly agitated. He realizes that Tang is a force to be reckoned with, and that he will not be easily defeated. He decides to bring in a team of top martial artists, both from Japan and Europe, to take Tang down. Among them are the Japanese martial artist, Han's Number Two, Colossus, a towering figure with superhuman strength; and the European champion, O'Hara, a ruthless killer with no qualms about his actions. The first martial artist to face Tang is Han's Number Two, but he is no match for Tang's skills. Tang takes him down quickly and decisively, using a combination of kicks, punches, and throws. Han is impressed by Tang's abilities, but he is not afraid of Tang. He believes that the martial artists he has brought in will be able to deal with Tang, and he orders them to attack. The martial artists arrive, but Tang easily dispatches each of them. He fights Colossus, who is the biggest and strongest of the group, but Tang uses his speed, agility, and technique to evade Colossus's attacks and ultimately defeat him. He then faces off against O'Hara, who is the most skilled of the group, but Tang defeats him using a combination of clever tactics and physical prowess. As the days go by, the syndicate becomes increasingly desperate. They realize that they cannot defeat Tang, and they begin to worry that he will take their business and property from them. Han is particularly agitated, and he begins to lose control of himself. In a final act of desperation, he orders his men to attack Tang, but Tang is ready for them. In a thrilling and action-packed final showdown, Tang faces off against the entire syndicate. Using his incredible skills and physical abilities, he takes on the entire enemy team and emerges victorious. Han is forced to retreat, and the syndicate is broken. In the aftermath, Tang is hailed as a hero, and the cousins are grateful for his assistance. The restaurant is saved, and Tang is able to leave Italy, proud of a job well done. The movie ends with Tang and Olga sharing a romantic moment, as the two of them walk along the beach. The Way of the Dragon is widely regarded as one of the greatest martial arts films of all time.
