Totally Killer

In the Netflix thriller "Totally Killer," 17-year-old Jamie (played by Annabelle Bruce) witnesses a mysterious and gruesome murder at her high school. The victim is a famous socialite, and the manner of the murder is eerily reminiscent of a decades-old serial killer known as the "Sweet Sixteen Killer," who terrorized the region in the 1980s. The killer's reign of terror was marked by a series of brutal and seemingly unconnected murders, which had never been fully solved. The "Sweet Sixteen Killer" claimed his last victim in 1987, after which he seemingly vanished into thin air. Thirty-five years have passed since then, and New Haven, where Jamie lives, is awash with nostalgia and excitement as it prepares to mark the anniversary of the killer's last known victim. Jamie is suddenly thrust into a time loop, reliving the day of the original murder and soon finds herself transported 35 years back in time to 1987, at the exact moment the "Sweet Sixteen Killer" is beginning his reign of terror. Jamie is initially disoriented but rapidly comes to accept her position as a temporal anomaly. The reeling teenager recognizes that her arrival has left her past self confused by unexplained visual sightings, like Jamie accidentally leaving the current day away at school, in the old year (1987). Jamie knows she must navigate her new, peculiar circumstances in order to prevent the "Sweet Sixteen Killer's" next attack from taking place, and in doing so, halt the series of events that led to her own arrival in the past. Jamie sees an opportunity to change the course of events, as long as she intervenes effectively to foil the subsequent happening of multiple of the "Sweet Sixteen Killer" murders. Jamie observes that she appears to be running "identical " tracks as the younger version of herself; that young Jamie isn’t witnessing anything of unusual like the time loop and future sight in the past year. She understands that stopping the murders will hinder herself from ever returning to the present, therefore she has to do "what seems" right for herself and also do everything she can to stop the "Sweet Sixteen Killer." As Jamie steps back into her high school in 1987, she quickly finds herself connecting with younger versions of the people she remembers from the future. She recognizes Olivia, a rebellious and talented artist who is scheduled to be the "Sweet Sixteen Killer's" next victim. Using her experience of knowledge and future insight, Jamie becomes increasingly involved in Olivia's life, convincing her younger self to follow her dreams and ambitions, which aren't exactly the same with how they unfolded in the original timeline. In defiance of some danger, and in line with Jamie's characteristically bold actions, Jamie continues to follow younger Olivia through New Haven. Jamie then applies her knowledge of the town to better discern where the "Sweet Sixteen Killer" might be hiding. Determined to alter the course of events, Jamie endeavors to identify the killer but continues risking her relationship with this impressionable peer and with her life. As each prediction has to be made clear in advance in this way, her feelings allow her to gradually understand a new way of connecting, about what works for both her - even for younger Olivia, but perhaps very problematic for other people Jamie had grown close to. Jamie soon identifies two suspects in the murders, who will later turn into infamous conspirators and lifelong friends, but with their new evidence they, with the involvement of the girls "close " connection will later try to utilize their inside view so that others left will remain within their reach with more clues and a new game begins - which becomes increasingly precarious in nature. When the murder date (November 5th) approaches, Jamie understands that, in order to secure the desired future, she might possibly be in a complicated situation but whatever obstacles appear she won’t be able to spare her existence even when confronted with a terrible decision.
